    Ever snap a front end?!?!

These vehicles are not "fool proof". SLow and steady usually gets the job done. Besides, maximum performance usually translates to minimum service!

    M101 Electrical Harness Differences

I don't know when the change over happened. Have to check the year of manufacture of the M101A2 that I just purchased from GL. Once home, I changed the lights to the later version with LED's. The new LED wiring is color coordinated. There was something confusing to me, about it, comparing...

    Shackle Pin Grease Problem

If Wolf's trick doesn't work, pull the zerk and run a small drill in it. If that still doesn't do it, pull the pin and clean it. If grease was regularly applied, the stuff wouldn't get hard.

    120lbs of Kitty Litter

Liberal use of a shovel is very effective. Digging out around those rear ends is very important. Depending on where the real bottom is, also effects the strategy. Rocking things around before things are exactly right for the big pull, sometimes just brings the bottom up closer to the roof...

    Stump vs Deuce

I did that one time with a heavy pickup. The way we got out of the woods was to pull it back in place by tying it to a tree, and pulling it back in place. Then cutting a chunk of wood, and putting it between the frame and the spring. Check to see if you didn't bend the axle housing & alignment.

    Brake Bleeder screw size

I just purchased two new brake cylinders from NAPA for a M105. The old ones were frozen and pitted too bad. One cylinder was Bendix (USA), the other was made in China. Both were same shape, and had the same size bleeder screws....7/16".

    OK, I'm done!!!

I grown..... For the purpose of trouble shooting, I would get an electric fuel pump & five gallons of straight #2 fuel to do the procedures discussed, for tomorrow. Just disconnect the output line from the tank and put an hose on it, to the fuel pump, etc. If the above mixture is in your...

    OK, I'm done!!!

Not sure! I thought that my 20 psi was too much after I replaced the pump, but I have a summers work on the truck. The pump I put in looked the same, (it was new), but came from a different vehicle type, salvaged vehicle. Gimp's value sounds good too, but see how it pumps. Another thought...

    OK, I'm done!!!

On my lift pump output, is a 1/8 NPT plug that I use, but Gimp's note works too. The volume you speak of, does sound adequate. I guess I would check it a little more though, because its far cheaper and easier to replace then the IP. Another thing about that lift pump is that the magnetic...

    OK, I'm done!!!

Fuel problem! One of my biggest lessons in mechanics, when I was a Kid with my first jeep.... I was telling an "Old Guy" what it wasn't doing, why it wasn't running and what I had done, which I thought was everything. He said, if you did all that, it runs..... Then he said - you missed...

    m35a2 losing prime

Fuel should gush out of the bleeder! You will know that the bleeder screw should naturally be closed. I have only one bleeder on the secondary filters, so it does both at once. Same for the primary.

    School me on Surge Brakes

The system uses DOT 5 brake fluid. Don't mix the stuff with DOT 3 that is more commonly used. There is a brake lock out hole in the surge system. By inserting a pin in it, it allows you to back it up, as in "up" an incline, or in sand/mud, with out the brakes being applied at the same time...

    Cold Starting

Whyme & flyxpl - assuming that your filters are clean/new, and your lift pumps are working properly (with accessory switch on, your bleeder on secondary filters should gush fuel), the symptom that you describe can be that your engines show wear. The compression may not be up to specs! Heat...

Please forgive me for such a dumb question (voltage related)...

Joe nails it. Just charge each battery, without disconnecting. + to + & - to -, when you are using a 12 V chargers. If you have two chargers, you can charge both at the same time. Make sure all connections are clean and tight. Take care with the grounds, that they are good.

    Hauling an M101A2...how?

I towed one home, but used a "light bar" to simplify the lights. I just strapped it to the rear. If its a M101A2, an 8 hole wheel will work as a spare.

    m35a2 losing prime

My bet is the lift pump. Crack the bleeder on the secondary filters with the engine off, accessory switch on. If fuel doesn't come gushing out, its the problem. Also loose fittings else where would tend to leak when the lift pump is running. Just because its running, doesn't mean that its...

Added 12 volt lights to my M105

I used LED's - they are multi-voltage. But another light problem is that they are required to have clearance and the 3 bar marker lights on the rear, if the vehicle is over 80" wide. That is not something that you can "grandfather" in.

    m 211 bearings

OK - I didn't say it exactly right. Never trust a parts guy. Always check the number and kind of stuff they give you, right there on the counter. It seems as soon as you drop your guard, you'll be making the trip back to the store for an exchange. Even with the best of intentions, mistakes...

    m 211 bearings

Then you didn't get replacement bearings! The way you know you get the right ones is to take an original down to the parts store!
