Ok, brake system overhaul is done, now I'm replacing the rear main seal which was completely worn. Bearing and crankshaft journals looked good, not too much crud in the pan.
Ok, I've started on the brake rebuild, and I've also rebuilt the carburetor. Carb was full of crud, and wheel cylinders seeped out fluid and destroyed the shoes. New lines and hoses too!
Remove plug on #1 cylinder, slowly turn it over with your thumb in the hole. Make sure it's actually on TDC for #1 not 180 degrees out ( would be on #4 then). Air will blow out your finger if you're actually on #1.

So it turns out the Deuce I purchased few months ago doesn't have "real" unit markings on the front bumper ( horrors). How would I go about marking it with " real" unit insignia.......is there somewhere I can look up what might be real? The publications I've seen only indicate "how" to do it but...
If the people before you weren't diligent in bleeding air out of tanks the bleeders get plugged up with crud. Replace them with the new style with cables on them so you don't have to crawl under the truck...
