Hahaa, there is some truth to that. I didn't mention that I am dealing with rain incursion as well, waterproofing and replacing all of my seals on my vehicle. These trucks were originally filled with electronics so they must have been waterproof at some time in their life. But just in case...
While I agree with your concerns about wire routing and insulation, I don't think one needs to a certified electrician to install and use a 24 to 12 volt converter. In addition, the selection of 24 volt stereos and amps is not remotely close to the 12 volt counterpart. Futhermore, a person my...
I just finished my stereo installation. I purchased and installed a $50 24 to 12 volt converter. And that way you don't have to mess with going through the ignition switch, you just have to remember to turn off the stereo when you turn off the truck. It works great. I installed a marine grade...
I had those same brackets on my 1045 A2. Several of those were still on my undercarriage when I got the truck. I could show you were they were located on my vehicle and I'm assuming they were used for attaching the up-armor.
I still have mine installed as the tires were new and more importantly, I really don't like the idea of changing one of those heavy SOB's by myself while in traffic. I'd rather have the ability to limp home or to a garage and have it changed.
I can use some advice. I have a 2003, 1045A2, slant back with a roof that leaks like a sieve. I have the “turret cover” pretty much sealed. I added additional bolts and then caulked and Flex-Sealed all around the round lid which was used to replace the turret. However, the slant back “hatch...
I agree with you about isolating the problem. And those switches are often the cause of the problems in many of the posts I have read on this site. I have a brand new one sitting on the shelf that I purchased. I then happened upon several threads on here about them being problematic and...
I installed a backup camera. It works great and while it was advertised as wireless the camera and the monitor need to wired to either 12 or 24 volt power. The wireless is really not "wireless."
That was a good price. I paid $3,400 six months ago for my set. I still had to paint them to match the truck but well worth the price IMHO. You won't be disappointed if you can find a set at a price you think is fair.
I have been dealing with cooling system gremlins in my M1045 A2 lately. I've changed out a thermostat, thermostatic switch, and now it looks like either a new temp gauge or sending unit is in order. I was able to use an infared thermometer to measure the engine temperature for comparison to...
The one side still has the extension. I was able to get the broken one off. Thanks, I just needed a better pry bar and some wedging. Bring on the rain.
Thanks for the info on the hex plastic. Part of the problem, and the reason I am replacing the part, is the splined end of the shaft was broken off by the Marines when they prepped this truck for storage. Since the end is broken off the entire part slides in and out about 3/4 off an inch...
I am pretty much in the same boat as Itrpd. I've replaced the thermostat, the thermostatic switch, and blew 90 psi into the line from the Cadillac valve to the fan. The fan moved when blowing the air into the line after about 15 minutes of doing that. However it is now not moving very much at...
