Windshield Wiper Pivot Assembly Installation – Need Help Removing Arm from Pivot Ball

That isn't working. The shaft on the old part is broken so I can't really pull on it as it moves within the windshield frame. I was thinking some kind of a wheel/gear puller may work if the plastic end cap on the arm comes off.

Windshield Wiper Pivot Assembly Installation – Need Help Removing Arm from Pivot Ball

I am trying to install a new windshield wiper pivot assembly but I cannot seem to get the arm off of the pivot ball. Is there a trick to removing the arm from the pivot ball? The Tech memo just states “remove” the arm from the ball. I tried to carefully pry it off but I don’t want to bend the...

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

It gets to that temperature in 5-10 minutes just idling in the driveway. It never gets to a lower temperature. The gauge is original and has not been replaced...yet. I am hoping part of the problem is the incorrect thermostat as the wrong one was installed when I bought it, and then I...

Weird Start Problem - Battery smoke?

I was actually going to start a thread asking this very question. Thank you for this post as it answered all of my questions regarding this setup. I was originally thinking of using a hidden in plain sight toggle switch but the keyed switch is a much better option.

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

Thank you Sir. The truck is running at about 235 F. So I initially assumed it was the thermostat. So I changed the thermostat, although with the incorrect part, so I am waiting for the new one to arrive. Then after reading some threads here I realized that my fan was not engaging. Using the...

LMAO, a guess yes, but a very good one and probably correct. I think you are due a cigar.

    hood numbers

Thank you both for sharing. Regarding the Recruiter HMMWV, why no doors? Was/is it common for these vehicles to be used without the doors?

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

I spoke with Kascars today and ordered the thermostat as Retiredwarhorses posted. I was told the thermostat installed originally in my M1045 will fit both engines but the one ordered is the correct part just as Retiredwarhorses stated. So evidently either Melton or the USMC installed the...

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

No argument there concerning part numbers changing. I will purchase a thermostat with the rubber from Kascar and report back. I had looked at one at a local parts store and it appeared too small in diameter compared to the housing. I'll buy one from Kascar to be sure it is the correct part...

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

The part numbers 12551497, 12559337 are interchangeable, with 12559337 superseding the former. When doing a search for 12559337 it returns the thermostat with the rubber boot. The thermostat which I pulled out of my 6.5L 1045 was the same as the thermostat in my 6.2 HMMWV, part number 14077122...

    Stock, Stock Looking or Modified

I like your modifications/add ons. Can you embellish more on your console and cup holders? Did you fabricate them yourself, store bought and if so where? Thanks, G3

    HMMWV Overheat Q's and pictures

Gentlemen, we have "leaf blower" engagement. Today I removed the line from the Cadillac valve and blew air through the line to engage the fan. It took quite a while and a lot of blowing to get the fan to move back and forth with regularity. I also lightly rapped on the clutch with a rubber...

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

I have been doing a lot on my M1045 A2. I removed all of the old foam which lined the inner roof of the cab and the slant back. This was a messy job as the foam had broken down and flew all over when it was pulled out. When pulling it off it left a sticky residue which I had to use a sharp...

    HMMWV Overheat Q's and pictures

I found the correct, made in the USA, thermostat at a local auto parts store for the 6.2 L. It is a Stant part number 13479.

    HMMWV Overheat Q's and pictures

Yes I am new to the HMMWV. Six months ago I discovered GovPlanet and didn't own any HMMWVs.....Now I own two..... . I am grateful for everyone's advice, especially yours and Retiredwarhorses. I have already learned a lot from all of you guys on this and other threads. Duly noted...

    HMMWV Overheat Q's and pictures

Thank you for the link to the troubleshooting manual. I did not have that one and have already printed it and completed the troubleshooting outlined in the cooling section. I started the truck and let it idle in the driveway. It only took about 5 minutes before it was over 220 degrees. The...

    HMMWV Overheat Q's and pictures

Haha, no, definitely not seeing nor hearing the leaf blower effect. I assume that my next step is to determine if the fan engages when the engine is hot, e.g., over 220 F. If it isn't engaged but does if I unplug the TDM, the TDM is faulty. If it is engaged when hot, the next option is...

    HMMWV Overheat Q's and pictures

Today I unplugged my TDM and the fan did engage. It didn't appear to move a full 1/4" but it did move forward. While it did engage it didn't sound like it had any effect on engine speed nor did it blow off my hat. I've read others here state that that you need to hold your cover when it...
