Here's what I did. Posted full build photos on a thread somewhere here. It bolts to the frame with two existing holes per side plus one drilled hole.
I wanted it for moving trailers around the yard, needed to be tucked up out of the way, and I wanted to be able to haul a small dirt bike in a...
I measured the temperature of my transmission and transfer case after a long freeway run on a hot day. The temperature was around 155.
I wasn't too worried about that, but the temperature of the right front wheel bearing was 275. The others were all around 100 degrees, 15 over ambient.
BTW, if...
I hear that too, and I suppose it isn't the WMO that kills pumps and injectors, but the soot particles and water/antifreeze that is not filtered out.
WMO when thoroughly filtered is motor oil diluted by fuel from blowby. Should be good burnable stuff.
So unfiltered/inadequately filtered WMO...
Best. Fuel Pump Thread. Ever. Thanks everyone for your contributions. I haven't a fuel pump problem right now but it is the kind of thing that bites you when you least expect it. A lot of what I have seen here could be fixed with a field expedient repair in a pinch, and what I have learned by...
My bike trailer came with the recessed D-ring tie downs. I left them in and ran E-Track right over the top of them. It has been a dream for hauling. I used a strip down the middle and one on each side.
Now considering running a strip of E-Track down each side of my deuce bed near the top edge...
If the WMO wasn't cut with diesel or gas and the temps have been low then it could fail sooner pumping WMO.
The fuel pumps are designed to pump a lower viscosity liquid like diesel. Pumping a higher viscosity fluid can shorten their service life.
Play Sand - Beach Sand
Another downside of using this type of sand is that most of the particles are rounded from being rolled around in the water, not sharp like an abrasive. It will take a lot more sand, time, and air to get the same job done than with an abrasive meant for the task.
One tool that has not been mentioned that I have found really useful in rust removal, is a wire wheel looking thing but it has orange plastic bristles and bought from Harbor Freight. Couldn't find it on their website for a link to post.
I think it works better than a wire wheel, and can be run...
OK, I am pretty sure I nee one of these fine Farymann diesel engines. Here is what I want to use it on.
Any of you gentlemen have one or three of these you would like to sell?
This motor would work great on a portable band sawmill. Was watching YouTubes last night of home built mills. Most of them have little gas motors and seem under powered. Nice lightweight diesel much better.
Thanks for the diagnosis tips, I will get out there and test the VR as soon as we get a break in the rain. If the rotating diodes are anything like most generators it is quite a project to get to them. Last one I checked, I had to unsolder the leads, what a pain.
I thought I had the correct TMs...
Thanks Ike, I really appreciate your helpful answer. I was going to get around to asking for it :-D but thought I should try learning more myself first. I have pulled out and tested diodes on a different genset before, had to unsolder the leads. What was annoying was that the diodes were fine...
The easiest thing to do when you don't know how to do something is to ask for help.
I have an MEP-701 [MEP-016b] generator that starts and runs fine but does not put out any power.
I have spent several weeks off and on reading every thread on this I can find both here and at SmokStak and find...
I am building a generator shed. It will have the fuel stored inside. I checked with the county building inspector, it is allowed, and can be done safely. I don't feel comfortable leaving either generator or fuel stored outside where it is subject to theft. Here is a photo of the shed.
Andrew sent me the info where he bought the "CARGO COVER KITS-NEW"
The website has three photos of the product offered for sale as described above. ALL three of the photos show brand new bows and corners in crates in addition to the cover. That is what he ordered. He only received a cover...
I would like to use Sherwin Williams paint. The only color formula numbers I can find here are for CARC. Our Sherwin Williams rep says it is restricted and they can't sell it to the general public.
I took it all the way to the regional sales manager. It is a product they are familiar with as...
