What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Thank you for mentioning that..... my 79 K20 has been running warmer than usual recently and I was wondering if the less than 6mos old thermostat was starting to fail.

    Another CUCV M1008....

I dove underneath the truck yesterday and the exhaust system has seen better days.... just going to have a new exhaust put on it. It's also got an exhaust leak somewhere around the passenger side manifold.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Filled the tank last night on the 86 M1008 and let it sit overnight with a can of cleaner dumped in the tank. Changed the air and fuel filters this morning and now it's purring like an ole 6.2 :p

    Another CUCV M1008....

I fired it up this morning and there was just a little bit of smoke while it idled for about 30min. Took it on a quick 3 mile test run and other than smoking under a load the first time I stepped on the go pedal, it pretty much cleared up. The old truck actually rode pretty good. Other than...

    Another CUCV M1008....

Brought an 86 M1008 back to the house that had been sitting in a field for about two years. The previous owner mentioned someone dumped sugar in the tank and he was going to part it out. Well I put new batteries in to see what worked and what didn't and much to my surprise it fired right up. I...

Yes, yes and yes..... change all of the freeze plugs before dropping into the truck. I wound up having to change all of mine last winter.

    New M1028 owner - questions?

May I suggest finding another complete 6.2 and dropping it in there.... makes these trucks a lil more affordable to operate... I still have the 6.2 in mine and I love it. While not a powerhouse engine, it gets the job done and keeps on ticking. If it ever blows, I'll just replace it with...

    6.2 headers

I think he was referring to a 6.2.... Btw, what oil pan are you using with the p400? And what are the power numbers n/a?

    replacement 6.2

Good morning, Not that I need a replacement engine, but I want to be clear in case I have to any time soon.. A HMMWV 6.2 and a 6.5 Optimizer long block will drop right into my M1008 with no problems correct? And all I would basically have to do is transfer the accessories from my current 6.2...
