Both of my m1008's will go into 4high real easy. 4low I have to shut off the engine to get it to go. If I don't shut off the engine, sounds like gears not meshing... is that a shifter adjustment?

The route up Blood Mtn and Wolfe Pen gap can get a lil steep.... I wouldn't try 4th on my 79 K20 with a 406 and 4:10 gears. Too much strain on the engine. Yeah I can see having to use 2nd gear on some of those hills with a 6.2..... and I'd like to have a SM465 in one of my M1008's

Just curious, where in N Ga can't you climb hills?

I'm running BFG KM2 255 85 16's on my 86 M1008 and it rolls 55-57mph easy...

The 86 M1008 I recently bought has a Vintage Air AC kit on it. Once I got the truck home and running, I discovered the air controls for the heater and defroster were never hooked up. If anyone here has the kit, were the controls behind the dash any different than a factory set up? I need to get...

If I'm correct, the GEP center mounted turbo has heads that will not accept an intake manifold from a naturally aspirated engine. Hence get a N/A GEP 6.5 and the find the parts from a 90's side mounted turbo.

Threw a set of pizza cutters on the 86 M1008... KM2 255 85 16's. Yuge improvement over the 235 85 16 all terrains..

Changed oil and filters on both M1008's today. I'm assuming the oil in the 86 hasn't been changed in a while as I had to use the breaker bar to get the drain plug loose....

What he said.... and change the harmonic balancer. It's cheap insurance for a 6.2

Just plan on it costing twice what you originally thought it would be.... ask me how I know that. Lol

Found a mint set of M1010 doors, grill and passenger side headlight bezel for the 86 M1008 today.. the seller was a cool old dude as well.

Didn't do anything to either of the M1008's today. I did however put my 78yr old Mama in the driver's seat of the 86 M1008 and showed her how to put it in 4wd. Then we hit a few of the climbs and gullies on her property with lotsa rolling hills. Good times, she had fun driving the old truck off...

New 2.25in exhaust and got the AC system charged on the 86 M1008.... it works and no leaks!

Changed air and fuel filters on the 85 M1008. It also helps to remember to bleed the new fuel filter.... #idiot

60mph on a set of 37's is not going to strain a 6.2 beyond its limits....

I will not attempt to do a gear swap myself.... I'll gladly pay the extra to someone that specializes in ring n pinions to do it. I have 4:10's with 33in tires on my 79Kw20 and I can run 63mph at 2500rpm's on the highway. The only issue with that truck at those rpm's is watching the 406 small...
