Hey True Knight - what kind a gauge action you got going on there?
Looks well done! Replace some of the lights on the left and is that a tach on the right where the volt meter was? Nicely done!
Right on! For $400 - sounds like a cool project vehicle that you can't go wrong with. Parts or a project rig - if the drivetrain is good - sounds good!
Send it!
Like your list, I'm curious how the Solargizer power management works out. I don't know much about those things and wonder how it will keep both batteries topped off.
By the way, the green color from Home Depot came out looking pretty good on your other post in "what have you done to your...
Weekend weather has been getting better out here. That means working on the M1009. I get back home so tired, it's hard to keep up with the posting of pics and stories! I plan on creating a build thread soon, sort of new at this and have been doing most of the work alone. Thanks to this...
Legos are cool - if not for them many us may have not developed our ability and drive to create stuff. The Lincoln logs of my generation!!! My kids love'em!
Great truck! Did you recover the original seats? The LMC catalog has the S10 seat covers that look about right, not sure about the rear seats though.
I'll have to start a thead soon with my rebuild. Same deal new 686 tan over the faded CARC camo, will smooth out the rough parts. I found it to...
That's what we all want to do! Killer road trip in our rigs and Corky's bbq!! Keep us updated, I'd love to take a road trip soon...my monster is still in a friends shop - rebuild underway! :grd:
I'm curious how it all works out - would assume that it would work as well as regular antennae? I picked a cable with the little snap ending attachment out of a wrecked GMC Jimmy for a couple of bucks awhile ago just in case. Might consider using it now! Good luck and let us know how it works...
Smokey's friends need a home too!
If Smokey has stirred up any of us to get one too, GL has a few listed in NM and NV - probably rust free! Looks like they need transportation though...
Consoles
Tuffy is a good one. I am installing a slightly used Troy that I picked up from a friend. There may be more, without the faceplates for the specific sirens, etc.
To make this fit, you'd have to get their mounts that slide under the seat bolts. And some faceplates for whatever you...
Can't help you on the driveline and t-case leaks - but Congrats! A good deal is a good deal. Sounds like there are some things to do but if you have a good UpullandPay place nearby - steering wheels, seats, all the rest aren't too hard to come by.
The driveline thing...even though mine seems...
RE to TXM1009 -
I have used some Krylon and Rustoleum on some smaller parts and found slight variations in color. They are quality paints but, if you have a color in mind and will use the Tan or OD on your 1009 on most parts then you will save some $ by just buying a case of either from Rapco...
I've used a few Optima batteries - one was in a Toyota tacoma - blue top. Was always reliable for startup. The others were for solar charged trailer set ups and they are four years old and still holding on.
Thought about putting some in the M1009 but Batteries Plus made me a deal on two...
I've never used the brand from Ebay, but have used the Rapco rattle can stuff. Works great for interior work and I've heard darn good for the exterior touch up stuff.
They also sell gallons for exterior work, the people I know in the NM area indicate that it holds up well but if left outside...
Forgot to mention the plastic moulding on the seats - if they are still present that is a bonus. If not, no worries - but it is important to note that the seats in the 1009s are basically S10 pickup and blazer seats. If you go to a junkyard, 1984 S10 seat mouldings are the same.
Napa paints...
