Since I made my post in this thread yesterday and read the comments, I'm going to hold off on the torque generator and explore using a orbital valve from a hydrostatic unit. I've got several hydrostatic units in my stash of parts that came off various scrap equipment so it won't cost me anything...
Used batteries usually aren't worth much because nobody knows how much life they have left in them. They may last for years or only last for a week.
If you are determined to run a two battery system, just take two of them out and leave two of them in there and you won't have to buy any new...
I think I'm fixing to bite the bullet on one of these units. Anybody used one?
I'm thinking I could just put this in line on the steering shaft and not have to even add any u-joints.
92ft/lbs would make a heck of a difference. I'd bet the air assist doesn't put out near that much at 120psi and the cylinder is mounted were you don't have the advantage of the stock steering gear reduction as you would with the torque generator.
What's the stock gearbox ratio? That would tell...
About the only people that will service Cat IPs are Cat dealers. You may can find somebody but I know all the local shops around here won't mess with them.
When the return line plugs on a 004, you usually have bigger problems. 99% of the time what plugs it is pieces of the governor weight retainer that is coming apart inside the IP. They will usually run a long time like that but there is a chance of the engine running away if you don't fix it.
As...
Water jet will also work but laser is usually cheaper.
I do have a local guy that does laser, cnc plasma, and water jet for me but I really don't have a connection other than being a regular customer.
I suspect after the M939s dry up there won't be much on the market for a long time. There's just not anything in the pipeline and rumor has it that they may not let the LMTVs go whole (mutilation required).
I have noticed them starting to dump quite a few HMMWVs but they are, of course...
I wouldn't worry. Most air tools are 90psi max but we run all our air tools at our shop on 150psi. Never had a problem. If you are worried about it you could just buy a cheap regulator.
:ditto:
I've seen several chambers that when caged the service brakes won't work. You should still have front brakes though as I've never seen spring brakes on the front.
Yes they will but it's not really their fault. I deal with several big scrap yards in my line of work. They are set up to process scrap metals, not a used car lot. They have a system- bring it in, process it, and send it to the mill. If they start pulling stuff out to sell it whole it screws up...
You could fashion a tailgate like most quarry trucks have if you wanted. They hinge way back on the bed and have a chain that is tied to the frame so when you raise the bed it automatically opens.
You may be right but I kind of doubt it would hurt much. Most of the "wealthier" folks you see buying Hummers wouldn't be caught dead in a HMMWV. While the H1 and the HMMWV were basically the same body and running gear, the creature comforts are worlds apart. I'd also say most of the folks that...
Rumor has it that there are old barns on the moon full of said jeeps. I've also heard that they dumped a bunch into the Sea of Tranquility when they left.
Back to the topic at hand, that GL employee is a idiot. There are many valid theories as to why HMMWVs aren't released whole ( I have mine...
Yea your weight retainer has come apart. You can take the check valve off the return line (where it goes into the top of the pump) and it should run. What happens is the rubber pieces stop up that check valve and the IP won't pump fuel. I've seen people knock the ball out of the check valve and...
