    6.2 gear drive

The thing with the gear drives transmitting the crankshaft's harmonics is absolutely true. I would contact Cloyes or another good brand timing chain company and see if they offer a higher tensile version chain. Best that's out there is a timing belt; that virtually eliminates any crank...

I got a KNUCKLE BOOM !! Need mesurments

You could prolly get away with it but if you look at that front the ends with the rolled corners you end up with maybe 1-1/2" of stiff side height...ya follow? Those sides are what make up the strength when used in this application. Your heavy wall 2" is better than nothing...but I think I'd...

    Adding Detroit Lockers???

That's because the axle could be loaded and VERY sprung. You jack it up like that or have a lug tool on it and that thing spings it would be like getting your thumbs caught in a backspinning steering wheel!!! Youtube vid on the Detroit Locker No-Spin...what we install...how it works.

There's a flap size difference even on the same width wheel?

    Need help identifiyng a Deuce

I had a deuce tractor way back when that had that same long style fuel tank on the driver's side. Sorry Gimp...I *may* have a pic around of that...

    Adding Detroit Lockers???

This is a misleading post. Detroits do not slip and continue slipping. When the rear axle is being powered by the driveshaft the Detroit is LOCKED...and that's that. Kenny is right that with good driving they can be very tame. I ran then for years with no problems IN ROCKS on the street...

I got a KNUCKLE BOOM !! Need mesurments

Okay- I see a LOT of these come through where I work. That crane is rarely bolted directly onto the frame. Usually there is a 3x3 box or some other sort of tube steel base boxed closed that is 3' to 4' long to spread the load of the crane over more of the frame. On my M931A2 I have is mocked...

I got a KNUCKLE BOOM !! Need mesurments

YES! Was very happy to luck into that...let me tell you. It also has an extra set of lines off the rotator so I can put a grapple or some other hydraulic driven attachment on it. Good eye Gimp! ;)

An Aussie 5-ton RV conversion 'Mad Max Winnebago'

I was in London talking to a guy and actually giving me direction then got into some other tangent of conversation when all of a sudden he says, "...and Bob's your Uncle." WHAT?!... LOL!

    Bought an M931...now what?

One thing you'll be doing is smiling while you're driving it. :) They drive really nicely. Oh, and the transmission will shift nice and smooth after it warms up so don't panic when the first 15 mins of cold shifts slam you around a bit...it's that thick engine oil in the trans.

An Aussie 5-ton RV conversion 'Mad Max Winnebago'

Once I got out past the Blue Mountains and other side of Bathhurst and out past Orange is started thinning out a LOT. The Aussie accent got so 'thick' at times while getting further West I had to ask people to repeat what they're saying. I'm thinking to myself, "I know they're speaking English...

An Aussie 5-ton RV conversion 'Mad Max Winnebago'

Graynomad, great vehicle builds and write ups! I was just razzing you about the Mad Max Museum- took my first trip to Austrailia last year after being in China for two weeks commissioning a machine involved with the high speed rail. I NEVER expected (for some reason) the flight from Shanghai to...

    Will a DT466 fit in a M35a2

The 1160 V8 CAT I put into my deuce crane truck has a rear sump pan. Fortunately the pan lands where the driver's side of the Rockwell chunk is rounded not where the large rectangular upper access plate is so that aids in pan clearance. Also people, there's not rule that says the engine can't...

No Driving Off Base-New Recovery Rules?

This was in everyone's best interest...like it or not...and especially in the interest of the hobby as one good car load of ANYTHING plowed through by someone in an unregistered truck would have some jackass lawmaker trying to further his career by shortening our hobby.

Yep, Professor Chaos...I forgot. Good thing I didn't ask about General Disarray.

    M-725 common engine swap advice

Maybe my next one I'll try a juiced up Goat 3-53 for that dare to be different thing...
