So this is the conversation ive had with my wife. We are purchasing a home in a nice West Des Moines area with no covenant. Ive always told my wife that having a truck is important when owning a home so she agreed. An excellent start!
I just didnt say what kind of truck. could...
I believe they refer to it as 'full phasing' an alternator when you turn it up to produce full power. A friend's dad takes Briggs & Stratton engines and hooks them to truck alternators and full phases them for portable welders. They seem to do a decent job.
The guy told me he loaded up in NC. That same night I had to go to upstate NY and took 81 to 84 to 87 to head up north of Albany...I saw a singled out FMTV truck (I think...looked like them and cab over type) in the form of a wrecker. If memory serves it had a crane like the M977's (prolly...
1 & 2 = YES, if you're going to turn it up, put a pyrometer on it first as a baseline then give it more fuel. Turbo is after you've melted pistons.
5, do a search for power steering...6'- 5" or not, a smaller wheel will wear you out.
I'm guessing the bed is about 18'- 20' long. It has three drop side sections per side which is also nice and manageable.
That guys trailer also looks like he can extend the lenght of it to accomodate for longer loads. Notice the gap in the deck at the by the rear tires of the load.
Freighliner go together with Ma'benz to bring them in for service...from what I understand. Go to the 'Unimog Exchange' (google search it) and look there for a 406 if you want one without all the stuff on it and you'll be spending a LOT less money. Most people spend the money for the SEE...
Yep, he was told the load was much heavier when he was picking it up. Scaled at 75,000 so needed unpin the bottom of the third trailer axle to be 'undersize' for night travel again. With the truck having the long rear overhang he couldn't simply flip it up onto the deck so we fully unpinned it...
Canadian Military truck, Navistar, 395 XZL singles, BIG. Trucking company called asking if we had equipment to help the driver lose the third axle on the trailer so he could drive at night. He was only 75,000lbs. We pulled it and put it over the 5th wheel pin on the upper trailer deck. Yeah...I...
Here's a trailer receiver I made for the Mog. I was really happy with the end result. Only takes a couple of minutes to put on the truck so I keep it off until I need it.
Hopefully next weekend I'll be picking up a factory original backhoe for my truck too. When I got the Mog it still had...
Wait a minute...REALLY?! Low range automatically locks in the front axle?!
If this is right, well no friggin wonder they're breaking T-cases in reverse in low range because you won't just spin the tandems, the locked in front axle will have all the traction in the world! You'll have enough...
Ahhhhh...I wasn't thinking about those first 3 you mentioned. Right. My M931A2 does have the 250hp turbo 6CTA. Apparently they're pretty easy to turn up too. Lots of marine application with a lotta horsepower in the 6CTA's.
