    Deuce in the 'burbs?

I have about 70 acres near Frederick, MD in Ijamsville. It's between I70 and I270, and about 11 miles north of Germantown, MD. Anyone having storage issues is welcome to contact me and we'll find your rig a home here.

    Help! I Need Tow Shackles

:deadhorse: I hate to resurrect this subject, but my M1009 came without shackles (all four missing), the number do-dad on the front, and the brush guard. I got the guard thanks to CW Tucker. Still looking for the rest. The local truck shop doesn't have the right size, though they have many...

    Help: M1009 Tire purchase tomorrow

Right. Information on "ice" is elusive. Googled the **** out of it and could only find opinions on the snow aspect of winter tires. The one thing interesting about the compound of winter tires is the bubble-gum flexibility of the rubber. Amazing they don't peel off the rim in 3 miles, but...

    Does this sound doable?

:ditto: Absolutely agree about the RED DOT SYSTEM. Get a complete system with all of the bits and documentation. I didn't see them before I posted. I can't claim to be the guy that found this system, but this will surely keep the sun off the kiddos. I'm seriously considering this for my...

    Does this sound doable?

The military offers a 24v system. Here's a link to an Ebay sale for one. Keep in mind that this guy's prices are out of control, but it's the only one I've found. Good luck. RED DOT CORP 24V AIR CONDITIONER R-2400-0P - eBay (item 200463976075 end time Jul-20-10 13:37:58 PDT)

    Help: M1009 Tire purchase tomorrow

From Tire Rack.... Priorities for Sizing Winter Tires Are Different Does your sports car, coupe or sedan use wide, low profile tires that are mounted on large diameter wheels? Or does your light truck use large flotation-sized tires? If you're going to drive through lots of snow this year...

    Help: M1009 Tire purchase tomorrow

Winter tires (read: Ice and snow) are actually narrower than standard summer all-season tires. Bought many through the years. When you order the same exact size tire you have, the winter tire will be physically narrower with less surface / contact point area and higher surface pressure.

M1009 Charging system / Battery Qwerk

Greetings again.... So being the purist in most things I noted that the batteries in the new M1009 were not 'military' spec / type, etc. I have an M818 that these batteries were installed in with good luck. So I thought I'd see if they had any at the same battery place in town. Turns out...

    Help: M1009 Tire purchase tomorrow

Jimm1009. not that you're the answer man, but I was wondering if you happened to know why they reserved this special honor for the 1009. Comfort? Off-road flexibility? Because I know that all of you are on the edge of your seat (uh huh, sure) I thought I would share that the tire size I've...

    Help: M1009 Tire purchase tomorrow

Ok, much appreciated everyone. Decided to delay my tire purchase to absorb all this great information. I'm also a fan of a taller narrower tire so perhaps my best option is one of these two: 33x10.5R15 32x11.5R15 Preferences between these two I would imagine are simply aesthetic. I bet they...

    Help: M1009 Tire purchase tomorrow

All great advice and photos. Thanks much. The tire folks are willing to try different sizes so this will help eliminate the concern, I think. I'm not trying to go too extreme. I want more on-road performance than mud slogging. 32x11.5R15 does seem like the perfect size for a stock suspension.

    Help: M1009 Tire purchase tomorrow

Thanks guys. The fellow at the tire place said he's put this exact tire on one before. Of course I'm slightly suspicious. I guess I'll have him mount one for the front first and see what I've got. And nothing says I can't put a minor lift on it at some point. Any other feedback out there?

    Help: M1009 Tire purchase tomorrow

Greetings, Once again asking for advice..... Tomorrow I'm going to buy 5 tires for my M1009. I would like to fit 33x12.5R15's to stock rims at the stock height. Ok guys, what am I doing wrong? Any and all thoughts welcome....
