Bobs reasoning behind saying this it there is a LOT more stress on a deuces column than a semi. The lack of power assist stresses the input shaft much more.
There out there. I bought a complete 4x4 dodge with a 4500 and cummins for $1000, another 2wd dodge with 4500 &cummins for $1400 and just bought a 92 6bt complete with intercooler 152k miles for$650 last month. Just have to know where to look.
Yup, Rush hour traffic in Chicago a few times, with +/- 13k on it. Stick worked great. I can see your point about boost but my truck will pull 30lbs in the snap of your fingers.

Patracy, I have to ask. Why would you say an auto for towing? That is the #1 place I would definatly not want an auto.
Also, You guys know alot about dodge 47r's, Whats needed to run a 47rh in all speeds w/ a functinal lockup
uh....ick. There about as sweet as a dodge automatic.
4500's are not that hard to stuff in a cucv behind a 5.9
Use a hydro peddle from a chevy and a little bit of fab work to a 2000ish dodge clutch master cyl and your good to go.
Thats because it is not a smart thing to do.....
1- If used off road the axles will not hold up
2- If used on road there is to much weight for the brakes to handle
Just read through the last few pages of this thread..... Not what I expected to see. Are you guys kidding me? This much of an upset over simple classifed adds? The way I see it the guys that are selling stuff using the adds seem to be contributing more to the site anyways by paying there...
Another tip that might be of use with solder, If you encounter wire that has tarnished (blackend in color) and your having trouble getting the solder to stick Aluminum brightener (sold at NAPA) and a 3m scotch bright pad removes it very quickly and gives you a fresh surface to adhere to. Just...
