Deuces on GL at Forest Park Ga.

All There are a couple of M35 winch trucks at Forest Park, in Atlanta. Fort Gillem to be exact. Most of those trucks are in decent shape. If anyone wants to bid on one, I can collect the truck for them and tow it to my place for later pickup. I will also help with getting the truck ready to...

    Honest John Rocket Launch Truck

Here are some pics of an old Honest John launcher. This one has been slowly going back to nature in the edge of the Eglin AFB reservation for the last 20 years or so. 6602 gasser, rebuild tag from Mittelwerke germany in the early '60's. The launch rail assembly and C frame are truly huge on this...

Turbo rebuild- anyone ever done theirs?

All Went to swap my C turbo to Marksgarage for his D. Got mine off and found the bearings were worn to the point the compressor impeller was polishing the housing. Luckily, my spare engine in the can (LDT 465 1D) turned out to have an excellent C turbo on it. Go figure, the depot boys must just...

    The Network

All Let's look at setting up a map with all our locations (city is general enough) and our means of locomotion. I am trying to see if we can "member to member" transport things across country. Shipping being what it is, we might be able to do each other some favors. I for instance, can pick up...

    Gigantic towbar

Well, I picked up the large truck towbar I bought. The seller was going to a Al. Forestry Auction near Montgomery and I met him there and picked it up. Well, two full grown men grunted and wheezed and picked up one end. I seem to have bought an M-60 tank towbar. The pins are about 1 1/2"...

    Interesting deuce e-brake MWO

All Went to the Kennesaw Ga. military vehicle show. Got to meet Ironhorsethegeneral and the Mrs. Had a great time! While at the armory, I took the opportunity to check out the ANG deuces just back from Saudi. All the cargo trucks are singled, with Michelin 1100R20's. The van bodies are...

    Interesting REB shifter

I found an old M35 with a dump body (not military) in a buddies junkyard. It is a really ragged old gasser, that had been converted with a REB kit by Memphis Equipment in the late '60's. The truck is basically gone, except for the axles and transfer case. Here is what is interesting: The...

    Deuce muffler bracket

All I installed a muffler on my deuce, the same one as Desert Rat and the others have been using. I didn't like my mirror braces rubbing the muffler, so i took them off and put a 15 degree kink in each one with my 1/2" conduit bender. I straightened out the existing bends about 15 degrees in...

    Air Filter Question

Looking at the motor swap thread..... Would it be worth anything to put a 5 ton filter assembly on a deuce? It would still look military (and I am sure it has been done in some motor pool in the past). Would there be any measureable benefit from this? Obviously the Cummins filter will flow...

Trip to a military salvage yard

All I had to make a trip to Evansville Indiana on business. To liven up a boring trip, Desert Rat and I met up and went to a military wrecking yard (Howard Hammonds). Lots of good stuff, scattered over 300 acres. I was very disappointed about 1 thing. Brent had told me how many ticks I would...

    Cargo covers on E-Bay

Someone has new cargo covers for the M-35 for $225. This includes the end curtains. I am not connected with this, but looks like a good deal. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=42611&item=4552240718&rd=1

    Cruising RPM

What RPM does everyones truck like to cruise at? Mine really likes 2000 RPM. It feels like I really have to get on it to cruise at 2500, but it will run down the road all day at 2000. 2000 feels like it is at a sweet spot in the torque curve. Anyone have a torque curve for the multifuel?

    Deuce Humor

I had a fellow who spent some time in the Army in Hawaii in the '80's relate a funny story. They would introduce the new deuce drivers to the trucks, Hawaii style. Most of the trucks were run with no tops, so the old hands would loosen the stack clamp and turn it towards the driver. They would...

    Replacement gauge lenses

has anyone replaced the lenses in their gauges? Most of mine seem to have a polycarbonate lens that has yellowed a good bit over the years. The only one that is clear anymore is the speedometer, and it is fogged up internally! Also, can the lenses be easily changed?

    1st week with a deuce...

It's been a hoot! I've driven back and forth to work 3 times, taken the 11 yr old daughter to school once. I get a lot of waves. No real issues at all. the front boots are on order, then it's time to get new canvas for the pax seat. Windshield gaskets are next. Title transfer was $18...

Anyone have a source for new Kaiser Jeep data tags?

I am in need of a new M35A2 WOW data tag for my 67 Kaiser Jeep deuce. I would like an NOS unstamped tag that I can use to replace my very corroded but still legible one. There is no problem stamping the numbers. As long as you have the original numbers verified, no legal problems here in Ga...

Picking up my new (to me) deuce tomorrow!

I finally found a deal I could not pass up. 1979 M35A2 WOW. Just as it came from fort Benning 4 years ago. Running an LDT 465 1C, 1100R20 street treads, air seat, air shift, pioneer rack, new vinyl cab top, heater, decent 383 green CARC. This truck belonged to a missile battery, and spent it's...

    Hood side panel questions

I have seen deuces with or without hood side panels. Does the engine area stay cooler with them off? Do most people prefer them on or off? The deuce looks good to me either way, so it may just be a matter of personal preference.
