A friend has an M38A1 & an M416 trailer.
The M38 has a trailer plug socket that is a different pattern than the plug on the trailer. The plug on the trailer matches the socket on my Deuces. It looks to me as though it would be easiest to change the plug on the trailer, rather than the Jeep's...
Went to Culver Indiana, home of Culver Military Academy, for their annual Lakefest parade.
Really great bunch of people from the VFW welcomed us & fed us too!
Attached pictures are some of our vehicles.
I'll follow up with pictures of other MVs in parade.
Got a full set of belts from Memphis. Other belts are okay, but the fan belts are just too darn short. I finally got them on, but they're way too tight even without any slack adjustment. I'm afraid I'll destroy the fan bearings. The adjustment bolt is all the way out.
They sent Dayco # 22395...
Something to think about:
This past weekend I needed to tow my M813, due to a broken water pump belt.
I figured I was all set, as I have a tow bar & could hook up the brakes from my Deuce.
NOT!
The 1400s make the 5 ton too tall to tow with my Deuce. Angle was so bad I was afraid the tow bar...
Took several vehicles to the July 4th parade in LaPorte Indiana. Biggest audience we've EVER had!
On the way home, my non-turbo Deuce started losing top speed/rpm.
2Nd, 3rd, & 4th wound up to 2600 rpm just fine. But once I got into 5th, I couldn't go over 1900-2000 rpm.
About 200 miles since...
Trying to get the engine running in my M51 Shelter trailer.
Cranks fine, but no spark.
Questions:
1. There is a single white wire going to the magneto. Is that wire supposed to be hot when the engine switch is on, as in a distributor system? Or does that wire go to ground when the engine switch...
A buddy has an M817 that jumps out of low range. A mechanic suggested "it has a bent fork", causing the problem.
What do you guys think the problem is?
What steps would you take to fix it?
Suggestions are appreciated.
Anyone know where to find a repair TM for these things? I don't see it on SS.
Right now I'm just trying to get the engine running.
There is a sealed metal box, about 3X4X3, which buzzes when the engine run switch is turned on. What's it for?
Engine cranks fine, but doesn't start. Not drawing...
There has been a LOT of discussion on shear pins. Most of it fairly old.
I need to get some, and I'm wondering if anyone has found any recently, that appear to be the "correct" aluminum pins.
Thanks!
Eric
One of my trucks is showing low oil pressure. Don't know why.
I know some of you have changed to a mechanical oil pressure gauge.
Is there a mechanical gauge that fits the panel alright?
What will I need to connect to the engine?
I'm not at home, so I can't look at the truck, but I'd like to...
Drove by the AM General Humvee plant yesterday. Saw a LOT of Humvees with a strange camo.
Mostly tan, with green, black, & dark brown. Can't imagine what terrain it could hide in.
Stood out like a searchlight!
Anybody know where they're going?
Had this in another thread, but got no response.
I'm hoping I can use this with a Deuce winch.
>I picked up a snatch block today, but it has no load rating on it.
Made by "Bestco Blocks".
Sheave OD is 6".
Looks to be good for 1/2" cable.
Center bolt/ sheave axle is about 1" diameter, 1&5/8 hex...
