I've talked to a guy who claims to have a new trans for a multifuel Deuce for sale.
I need to go look it over & get a price.
As always, I have questions for those wiser than me.
1 What's the chance I'll ever need it. Mine is fine at the time.
2. He says CHEAP. What would be a good price to pay...
I mentioned in another thread that a turbo '66 multifuel I'm looking at seems to run a lot smoother than the one in my '70 non-turbo.

1966 Kaiser-Jeep. Brakes are not working, but do pump-up a very small amount. I suspect that by adding brake fluid I could get it home 15-20 miles alright.
There is no sticker saying silicone fluid...
Just picked up a new tan vinyl cargo cover kit. I was told it is for a 5 ton dropside.
What would be the differences in that & a standard Deuce cargo cover?
I guess it would be what, 2 feet longer?
Is there a difference in the way the sides tie-down on a dropside?

On our 1952 M35-
Over the last 100 or so miles, all short trips, the brake pedal has been getting a little higher. It now has about 1/4" travel before brakes lock up.
Any suggestions?

This is our 1952 Studebaker M35 after painting it Marine Corps green.
I know, I know, the markings are nothing like the originals.
Rod, a former Marine, says "I don't care! I want everybody to know it's a MARINE truck".

Got a road trip coming up, & a spare pair of front hubs.
I plan to have them desplined. How much over the diameter of the axle do you guys suggest?
Can they be cut out on a lathe with a regular boring bar, or do they have to be ground out?
Any other tips I need before I run these?

Would like to get a cargo trailer to pull behind a deuce. I have a 332 ammo trailer, but it's too small.
I'm not at all familiar with military trailer models, so I'm up for suggestions. Would kind of prefer one that can be covered.
Assistance/opinions appreciated.

Temp gauge in gas deuce quit. Stuck in a new gauge I had on hand. Made sure it has good ground. Still nada.
Any body know how to test a temp sender? You know, like what should the resistance be at a particular water temperature or something?

We've got two deuces, with very "different" brakes.
1952 M35, has great brakes with only about 2.5" of pedal travel & no sponginess at all.
1970 M35A2 stops okay, but the pedal goes down over 1/2 way. I always pump the brakes a couple of times to build up pedal. I don't like it.

Our '52 gas-engined M35 is hard to start when the engine's hot. Seems to flood a little. Have to crank it a while with the throttle to the floor, then some more with about 1/4 throttle, to get it started.
What do you guys suggest?

Weather MAY be getting better soon, so I want to get my winch installed. I think all I'm missing is the PTO lever bracket that attaches to the master cylinder.
