One of my 1400 R 20 Michelins has a sidewall break, that leaks air.
I've been thinking about a boot in the tire & adding a tube.
Stopped in at a Michelin truck tire dealer in South Bend today to see about it.
Guy there said he could replace a "section" of the tire, with new material vulcanized...
1400R20 Michelin XLs on my M813A1 are showing some sidewall cracks, & I want to start replacing them. I'm especially concerned about the fronts.
Anyone know where I can get some new or really nice used tires?
If originals aren't a viable option, what else should I look for?
I've got the 20-bolt...
I keep reading where guys are getting 10-12 MPG in multifuel Deuces. The best I've ever hit was about 8 with desplined front hubs & traveling at 45 MPH.
I'd like to try turning the fuel down, but need some help.
How can I tell the "best" setting for this engine (non-turbo) ?
Can I damage...
I know this was discussed before, but I can't find the info.
The mounted spare for my M813 doesn't hold air. Before I go to the trouble of unloading it from the truck to look for a leak, I thought I should get a spare seal that goes between the wheel halves. 1400-20 20-Bolt wheels.
Anyone have a...
I plan to put fuel burning coolant heaters on 2 trucks. A non-turbo multifuel Deuce, & a Cummins powered M813A1.
Can anyone tell me where to connect into the cooling system on these trucks?
Any help or pictures appreciated.

Put a throttle cable on the M813 with Cummins 250. Found a problem.
Truck idles right at 500 RPM. Pull up slack in throttle cable & go one notch more, & it goes to 1900 RPM!
Now I'm noticing, that with no load on it, it's almost impossible to throttle it up "a little" with the foot pedal...
Got to spend a little more time on the 813 today.
Spare was loose in bed, so I figured I'd secure it. The two mounting studs at the front of the bed don't fit the 1400R20s, so I strapped it in place for now. I imagine the mount was for 1100x20s. I guess I'll have to make up a different mount...
I've got 2 dead alternators, which I'd like to repair for spares. One is a Leece-Neville, the other a Prestolite. There is a shop nearby that will rebuild them for $150, but that's more than I want to spend. Has anybody ever worked on these?
What usually goes bad in them?
Where can you get...
Well, I finally got a little time to work on the M813A1.
Replaced the alternator with a used one I picked up. Working fine. Not difficult.
Tested sprag by putting front bumper against big oak tree. It works! Found out that with the 1400 Michelins, the engine would die before the tires would...
I need some front lug nuts for the Deuce, or actually nuts for the M332 Ammo trailer, which uses the same studs.
Are these a "standard" size that I can get at an auto parts or truck parts place?
I have a really good supply of rear studs & nuts, all new, if anyone wants to trade.

Recently got an M813A1 with Michelin 1400X20 Super Singles.
A buddy says he has heard of rollover accidents related to this tire setup.
Anyone familiar with this?

What's the latest & greatest type of body filler that you guys have had success with?
Back in the 60's we used Bondo. Even used some lead. Yes, lead.
I have heard there are "lightweight", "epoxy", & maybe some others nowdays.
Are they any better?
Thanks,
Eric
