Filtered Waste Oils in the Deuce in the Winter???

All, This will be my first winter driving the multi-fuel and I have been using a 75/20/5 (filtered wmo/diesel/gas). Yesterday morning we hit a low of 23 degrees and when I went to the start the deuce, first time in about two weeks and it took several attempts. When it finally started, it ran...

Question about Engine Swaps on the M715

I purchased a M715 with a Hercules D3400, turbo and intercooled. The truck was awsome and incredible torque and got about 22mpg. Now I have moved up to what I call the kick a of all military trucks. You will need to swap out the gearing in your truck if you re-power, no if, ands or butts...

Help with a Cab Heater Recomendation

Tommy, Really appreciate you documenting the install. I am a big fan of "not re-inventing the wheel" or this case the deuce heater. Please be careful when wiring up 12v accessories in this truck. I did something similar in one of my M37's and toasted both batteries. I think the better...

Help with a Cab Heater Recomendation

Well the NH winter is settling in and I need to install some sort of heater in Brutus. I found a great deal on depot rebuilt 60k btu multi-fuel heater, but I can't find controls for it and I think it is over-kill. I was leaning towards a muti-fuel heater because I had one in my Unimog 421...

    whats in your gas tank?

I am using a mix of 2cyl gas/oil mix filtered, wmo filtered and diesel(15%). I filter everything down to 5 microns and make 10 gallon batches of the brew at a time, all down by a simple gravity fed system. I also added about 4 onces of Diesel Service. The truck seems to run quieter, produce...

    Will this filter WMO?

On my gravity filter setup, I am now using a magnetic block heater on my 5 gallon hopper (an old air tank) which filters the waste oil through a full paper towel roll down a 3/4" perferated holed pipe and then leeches to 5m sock into a clean 5 gallon storage container. My shop is unheated and...

    100% used motor oil fuel.

I have a question for all the fellow deuce owners here in New England and other cold-climate states that are running wmo's as a fuel supplement. I am running a cocktail of about a 60/40/10 wmo/diesel/gas and was wondering as the nights get colder should I change my ratios a bit. So far I have...

    Need some Heating Advice

Fellow Steelers, Just got a pretty good deal ($79.00) on a 24v Stewart Warner Multi-Fuel vehicle heater, depot rebuilt in 2004. My thinking it came out of a 10ton or even a tank. It is a model Model 78385-10560 M241B1. I have a few questions... Does anyone have the TM number on this...

    Fuel Economy of Alternative fuels

My first attempt using filtered WMO is as follows.... 15 gallons of filtered waste motor oils, mix of conventional and synthetic, with 5 gallons of fresh 87 octane gas and 5 gallons of #2 diesel. The White LDT whistler engine in Brutus is much quieter, a bit more blue smoke at startup and it...

Complete Oil and Lube Job Question

Nice deuces!! Going to do all my gear fluids next weekend. Yes, definitely filter all the waste oil and put it right in your fuel tank. Just filtered 15 gallons of waste motor oil, added 5 gallons of gas and dropped it into the tank. Brutus seems to love it as he is much quieter. I am in...

    Power washing

I did a very light power washing (adjustable nozzle) on the inside of my deuce (shorty) and then took my gas leaf blower and it dried out the interior in about 10 minutes.
