Folks,
If you had a choice of purchasing a 802a unit (4200 hours) for $300.00 more than an 002a unit (2200 hours, would the 802a unit be a no-brainer?
Would about parts for the 802a? vs the 002a???
Thanks Guys!

I am thinking it maybe time to replace my my 8 year old 3600rpm Chinese knock- off 6K diesel generator. Other than a bad starter, it has been a pretty good unit. In Southern NH, we loose power several times per year and over the last two years have had multi-day outages. I am looking at a...
Excellent point as I had to change my current diesel generator oil once during this past week's outage (every 100 hours). So fuel, filters, and a nice side arm is a must for a long duration outage!
Again, thanks for all the comments and advice!
Prices from resellers in Maine, NY and NH are running ....
MEP-002a $2500.00
MEP-003a $3250.00
"Fully tested" and some have spin-on filter conversions. Hours seem to be under 2000.
Thanks guys! In 08 we were out 7 days. The storm last week we were out 5 days. But after these two outages and not being able to use the dishwasher, washer and electric dryer, the Mrs. gets a bit annoyed. With December 2012 not far away and from what I heard the sun spots may even begin to...
After another 5 day outage here in NH, I am now looking to upgrade my 6kw 3600rpm diesel generator to a more beefy one. Being a military vehicle junkie, I am leaning towards the MEP units. There seem to be a few local "dealers" on C/L and Ebay in Maine and NH that sell them fully tested, etc...
Thanks guys already bookmarked the doghead mod thread and will pick up the new relay in the morning. But before I do, I will check the ground and cables.
After an exhausting search, I believe I may have found my problem, but need confirmation. Today after sitting for a couple of days, my M1008 would not start. I was getting a "clicking" noise under the dash (starter relay???), but the starter would not turn. Tried several times and after...
My M1008 was hard shifting. Replace, fluid, Filter, three vacuum lines and the 30.00 modulator. Total cost about $75.00. It now shifts like a new transmission! OD shows 45k miles.
Just installed new 070 glow plugs with a bypass switch and it starts right up. I cleaned everything up with some brake cleaner today and did not see any weeping from the IP. Where else can it be leaking from?
Is it a pain to remove the manifold? I would imagine you would have to replace the...
Pictures will be posted tomorrow on this thread. Installed the Racor 445R Spin-on filter / water separator today. I wanted to replace the two rubber fuel lines (in & out). But the rubber line from the filter to the IP steel line (under the manifold) seems impossible to get too. I have a...
Does anyone know what the micron rating of the breadbox fuel filter?
I am installing a Racor spin-on filter system and it comes in 30, 10 and 2 micron filter cartridges. I am leaning towards the 2 micron but is that overkill???
Thanks!
Well folks, after another 10 mins (total 4.5 hours on 1 stuck gp) this morning, I finally freed the stuck gp. I used a small vice grips with a small pry bar and with 10 minutes the little sucker came right out intact.
I remove the GP controller card, finished wiring up the momentary switch and...
Well, I began to chip away and my to do list to make my new CUCV road worthy and I replaced the fuel filter yesterday. Today I was hoping remove the relay card, install a momentary switch along with new Wellman 070 glow plugs. Well I completed the first two tasks without a problem. I can now...
Agree with John, the most common cause is having it plugged in when starting. These are very reliable units and I have used them for years in my tractors and diesel vehicles. Also how long of distance from your truck to the ac outlet?
I am going to replace my glow plugs this weekend, at least one is shot. I also think the GP controller card is toast. When I turn on the ignition key I do not hear the relay "clicking on and off". So today, as a test, I found a toggle that I had and temporary wired it up to the relay and a...
