Well guys from the beginning, I have been underwater and way above my pay grade with this unit. I knew I was in trouble the day after I received it. The tank was loaded with sludge, fuel lines disconnected, filters missing, etc. So with the help from this forum and many fellow members, I...
Yes, good flow both ways. I guess the next step in the process of elimination is to do the flow test timing method.
What is weird is that I talk to injection shop in Mass a couple of weeks ago and the old timer told me he has rebuilt many of these pumps and he said that my new pump should...
Trickled charged the batteries over the last few days and this morning I changed the fuel filters. He is starting much
quicker, but again it will only run for about 5 or 10 seconds. Oil pressure seems to be increasing with every
attempt. I confirmed that the solenoid is remaining open and...
The fuel solenoid appears to remain in the open / up position while attempting to start. I have also tried starting it while holding it in the up position.
Jumped the oil pressure switch this morning, observed the same exact symptom. He ran for about 5 or 10 seconds, oil pressure approached 20psi and he died. Attempted several times again holding the start switch for about ten seconds and while holding he would just stop running, ending with a...
Tom,
Yes, it dies shortly after I let go of the start switch. I have tried to hold start switch (probably for me than I should) and it will stay running until I let it go. I noticed today that, for the first time I had an oil pressure reading when it was running for those few seconds which is...
Well, had to buy another flex fuel line today, installed it and now all the leaks are repaired. Bled all the air out of the lines and fired him up. Throttle control all the way out and he ran for about 4 or 5 seconds and died. Tried several more times and the same thing, lots of white smoke...
If and when I get him running I will let you know. But I did it for several reasons, ease of maintenance, better
filtration, filters available most everywhere and no worry about leaking gaskets. I also purchased Speddmon's spin-on
oil filter adapter / filter setup also. Did the same when I...
Thought I would post the duel spin-on fuel filter modification I did on my soon-to-be running MEP-002A.

Tom,
Been laid up the last few weeks, but over the last few days have made some progress.
<> Had a local shop tig weld the steel fuel injector line crack. I did not want to spend $40.00 on a new one!
<> Installed it and after about 1/2 dozen starting attempts, he came to life for the first...
The new (rebuilt) pump is installed. Began the tedious task of priming and purging air all to find out that I have a hair-line crack in my left Fuel Injector fuel line. So waiting for a take-off fuel line to arrive. Boy, it is sure slow going!
Tom,
Yes I did pull the valve cover and the gasket came all apart. I used a long screw driver to move the fly wheel so that cylinder one was at TDC, found my tdc mark on the fly wheel and installed IP with the rod still inside the little hole on the side of the pump. Felt it engage and bolted...
Tom,
The shop had three rebuilt injector pumps in stock, so it was going to less expensive (including the button) to purchase one off of the shelf than rebuilding the existing pump. In addition, the twelve point nut (delivery valve holder) was frozen solid and striped and no matter what I did I...
Well got the new button (thanks Tom) installed with the "Jesus" clip this morning on the rebuilt ip. A suggestion that worked for me was to use a very small needle nose, in conjunction with a small screw driver and a magnetic pickup tool (small one). Squeeze the clip and slowly move the screw...
