You can try South City paint and ask for Dan for the primer and such. I would suggest Rapco for the paint though, if you are going to do a 3 colour camo using CARC 383.

If you are going all out to replace the flexplate, now would be a good time to have the starter rebuilt. Most shops won't cost that much and you would have piece of mind with a rebuild. Also, check your bendix, it might be ate up with your previous grinding when starting...

Usually a engine tranny swap is alot easier than a body swap.
Make a list of what you will have to do to both and proceed with the least labour involved.
Changing the body is not unheard of at all, just VERY labour intensive.
You can get new starter bolts from your GM dealer, they should have them in stock or within a day or so. Do you know if the support bracket on the back of the starter is connected? If you don't see one, you will need to place a new one, it supports the back of the starter and also helps restrain...

I'll give you a little 'advice' on the Fort Polk trucks...My next door neighbor just happened to be salivating over mine one day...went on bumbling about having REAL fun in these trucks in the 'back 40' at Polk. Really bragging about tearing them up before having to turn them back in...
If the vibration is coming from 'underneath' could mean a u-joint going out. And yes, check and make sure you don't have a 'GL drive shaft'...
