Good news update! While forcing the reel to unwind so that I could clean the hydraulic hoses and interior of the reel, which was covered with grease and dirt. When I had the reel almost completely unwound, I heard a very loud pop/clang from the spring area. At first I thought that I had...
After reading the TM, I found that the hydraulic hose reel is a U.S. manufactured Hannay N-617-19-20C.SR. This model is not listed specifically on the Hannay website, but they do sell a new reel labeled N-617-19-20-10.5J. They go for ~$600.00 new with ~$200.00 shipping. I found several...
I would obtain a good quality modern gauge and check your oil pressure. Reading just above the L at idle on an antique gauge wouldn't give me any comfort that your oil pressure is OK. If your engine was just rebuilt, you don't want to damage it.
I pull my XM1061E with my M35A3 and previously with my M35A2 before I sold it. I only load bulky loads on the trailer with minimal weight. That trailer pushes my deuces around even when completely unloaded. No way would I ever attempt to pull it with a pickup!
Is this something new happening? I would recommend letting the air pressure build up and then shutting down the engine. Then press the brake pedal and see where the air is coming from. With the engine running there is a lot of noise. On my M35A3 you can hear the air packs operating when you...
I decided to try out some of the hydraulic tools that came with my FLU, namely the jack hammer. I have to drive about a half mile down a gravel / dirt road to get to my property. I live in the Blue Ridge Mountains and there is a lot of rock everywhere, including the road. There are some very...
Why don't you simply leave it registered in Georgia? Ask the seller to leave the registration in their name with a GA tag and keep the Bill of Sale showing that you own the trailer. If you get stopped in North Carolina all you have to say is that you borrowed the trailer.
I shift my FLU very gently. No reason not to since it shifts so easily and smoothly. However, we don't know how the previous drivers treated them. I remember my days in the Army!
When I replaced the shocks on the front of my M35A2, I contacted Monroe Technical Service. They had a cross reference and said that the Monroe 34787 is what Monroe supplied to the government for the M35 trucks. They had the same size stem as the original ones and fit perfectly. Interestingly...
When I bought my first M35A2, I received a piece of paper that said that I could sell it at any time except for the following.
1. The truck could not be exported without an export license
2. The truck could only be sold to a U.S. Citizen
3. It did not require that I notify anyone of a sale
My SEE has been in some substantial rains in the past and never leaked a drop of water in the cab when parked on level ground. I parked the SEE on about a 15 degree slope facing uphill and we had almost 6 inches of rain over a couple of days. I ended up with about two inches of water in the...
