I have a question I'm scared to ask. But I'd better. In the attached photos, specifically the opening shown off the turbo, I noticed an oily vapor coming out while the truck was running. I'd never noticed this before. The truck is running in these photos--but the pics didn't pick up the...
I looked back at previous threads and found a few photos of the NAPA muffler install. And bottleworks sent me some pics too. However, its not clear from the photos how the muffler is attached to the j pipe near the fender. Does the muffler slide over or into this pipe and then gets clamped...
Lee,
The bearings are greased, but when I pull an axle, GO flows out (about 50 milliliters or so). Is this normal? If the gear oil isn't supposed to be there, why isn't there an inner axle seal?
Steve
Thanks much! I was also wondering how lubrication happens in the rear axle. I'm assuming that gear oil makes its way to the hub flange. What's it lubricating there? Grease is for the bearings right? Inquiring minds want to know. My hub was empty, is that correct, or should there be grease...
How crucial is the cork seal for the keyway on the rear axles? I didn't notice anything mentioned in the manuals. Do they go in before the washer? What kind of substitute can be used? Thanks.
Steve
Dannymoz,
Wow, that's hot! And you have to wear your uniform with the sleeves down? Seems like you'd be in shorts! Thanks for your service to our country!!
Steve
Kenny,
Nice! That is definitely an awesome truck. Kudos devilman. I like my 1100 Michelins and the hole in my wallet that they made will require some time to heal and fill in. I'm thinking of changing back to the dually rear with 1100 michelins. Should look pretty cool. I'm saving for a...
Question. I have a bobbed deuce. The rear axle on the truck has a flipped hub. The extra axle is not flipped (ie in original configuration). If I want to go back to duals on the rear, could I simply change hub assemblies (bearings, hub, drum) from the extra axle to the axle on the truck? Or...
Mine was doing the same thing and the leak was right where mangus and maxim indicated on theres. The top seam was leaking and at the elbow on the filler. Soldiers tend to steady themselves on that filler and the downward pressure takes a toll over time. Anyway, a brand new radiator from...
The original "vent" line coming off the master cylinder goes to a brass block on my truck not 2 feet from the mc. How is it getting vented at that block? And what other lines meet at that block?
My question is how do you get access to the nut INSIDE the pulley (I think it's 1 and 1/8 inch). Do you have to pull the radiator? I tried loosening the radiator bolts (bottom) and the topside brackets, but still couldn't get past the radiator shroud.
RE: Re: RE: Transmission noise
Yeah, I was curious about that. I thought it was my imagination, but I would swear that my tranny is a little more difficult to shift when warm. Kinda sticky not grindy. Full of correct lube too.
