When I was working on my 48 CJ-2A frame bolts I mig welded a nut on the majority of the broken bolts, even the ones flush with the frame surface and they backed right out.
Winter storm running through here since Midnight last night. Looks like we probably got 4-6" of the first snow this season for Central Illinois, so its putting a huge damper on my troubleshooting today. Its also about 31 degrees and it was like 70 last weekend...
Since I want to at least get...
As I stated this morning in post #43 above - Last night I was double checking fuses and found some taps in the fuse block with one going into circuit 12 - the 24V/mtr tap. I pulled it last night. There is also a switch next to the 24v meter and a dash stereo so its probably one too. I double...
Yes, still 24v starter which he just replaced again recently because the first was replaced for some reason and the shop installed a 12v starter then smoked it.
I just eliminated the resistor so now the 12v on the GP solenoid is hot all the time from the firewall terminal.
His idea behind the...
Update tonight before seeing your last post above.
Glow Plugs all test nice and bright with the test light ground on the the GP terminal and the touching battery + with the probe.
I hooked up my meter to the GP output orange terminal on the solenoid and grd...I also put my Sun Starter switch...
I did reinstall the card but did not check for voltage yet.
I double checked the fuses again and even ohm checked them to be sure. I did notice some wire taps in the fuse block and after yesterday's review of Warthogs fuse box information that I created a downloadable pdf, I need to see where...
Terminals removed and insulated and GP Card removed:
Key off - LtBlue card terminal contact: 0v
Key off - LtBlue card terminal contact: open circuit
Key on - LtBlue card terminal contact: 0v
Key off - Red control terminal: 0v
Key on - Red control terminal: 12v
Installed the new S-603 Solenoid...
Update:
Bench tested the GPR7 with the battery...pwr leads on the "S" and "I" terminals immediate clunk. Continuity between the load and GP terminals.
Reinstalled the GPR7 mounted on the piece of peg board, isolating the mount from the truck chassis.
Key on...no GPR clunk.
Grd to the LtBlue...
GPR109:
"S" & "I" shorted together
neither shorted to mount
large lugs open to all terminals
GPR7:
"S" & "I" shorted together
neither shorted to mount
large lugs open to all terminals
GPR7: mounted to fiber peg board (not chassis mounted to isolate the grd)
key off...
Red Pwr - 13.5v
Org GP -...
Ordered the GPR109 online for pickup in the store...Mrs stopped and picked it up and sorry to report that this one in the original Napa box also has the "S" and "I" terminals on it so I'm now convinced as I earlier stated that when supplies are exhausted this is now the replacement part.
So...
The Leviton units you listed would be the commercial type and there are many choices - checkout Grainger for a good selection but they are pretty pricey.
This thread shows a similar way we did it in an ammo can enclosure if you can use your imagination a bit...
We made similar PDPs out of ammo cans in my unit for use with generators until we actually started get authorizations for the real deal PDPs. You should see these beauties now that we use with the Mep806.
Like armytruck63 said make sure you balance the load between the phases if you are using...
Isolated the ground tonight by mounting the GPR on a piece of peg board but it made no difference on the orange glow plug terminal. But the 12v on the blue terminal is no longer there now with the battery disconnect open.
I'll pick up the GPR109 from Napa now and see if this corrects the issue...
Doghead or Warthog - it was getting dark and raining when I got home last night so I did not attempt the GPR chassis ground isolation, but got me to thinking again (dangerous).
I was curious if the Doghead Starter Relay (Napa part# 7-01860-1) mod has an isolated ground or not and if not if I...
The BWD GPR7 does not have an isolated ground and the "S" marked terminal is grounded to the mounting flange. Tonight, I'll attempt to isolate the GPR7 first to see if that works. The one I'm replacing is exactly the same with the S and I terminals and looks brand new, but not sure if the...
Doghead, in your opinion do you think it is because of this not having the isolated ground?
I saw a few posts where people had gotten the GPR109 and it was marked with the S and I terminals so wondered if this was a replacement part now and the old 109 will eventually be exhausted.
I'll try and isolate the mounting and see if that changes anything...if not I''ll go back and get the NAPA# ST85 or Advance Auto #S603.
If I can fix this eletrical issue next will be the fuel/air leakage. The shop put in a cheap inline filter bypassing the Stanadyne system. When I went to hook...
