SO I have two MEP 005a. I have not measured with super accurate precision either. But Running my units at 100 % load on a load bank I get about hour 10 minutes out of 2.5 gallons of fuel. Now that being said im probably more like running the machine at 90% load due to the single phase conversion...
So they are all pretty much identical due to military specs. For what its worth though seems as though the units that are in better condition that I have run across, and again I qualify this with the statement in my humble experience, have been the libby units. Maybe I just like the name better...
Ah that makes sense of the hit had already pulled a had probably worth taking s look never know..... thanks for the info in the head gaskets I'll keep that in the back of my mind of I end up being to do this. Looks like a fun project at any rate. Good luck with the rebuild...
Looks great I respect your OCD.. However part of me wonders if its worth getting this deep into the motor when you can probably source another 400 hz unit for pretty cheap and canabalize the motor from it if needed. Looks good though. Where do you get the head gaskets and new stretch bolts for...

Super nice guy.
They will have every part you can ever want for this machine.

Thats not a bad idea at all either. I really feel like if you dropped this thing down its not going to move much, and if you just put it on some rubber pads on the four corners Im almost sure it would not move anywhere. Its really freaking heavy. Sure would not want to drop it on my toe :)
This sounds like a pretty solid plan to me. Mine is just sitting on the gravel next to the barn they have not moved at all while running however perhaps the concrete will cause more vibration however would be bad if it did walk away and rolled down a hill... they do weigh a little over there...
Yup that is what I did. However when I got the pump back after it had been rebuilt I was unable to get it in time properly with where the shaft was set in the timing gear hopefully you do not run into this problem otherwise you will have to take the shaft out of the timing gear to set it to the...
So you do not have a pump at all??? Or the one you have does not work?
Just do a google search for the pump I found several out there but none of them are cheap very spendy. I think in the range of 800 dollars and up. They are out there though GL sold a huge lot of them bout 8 months ago so...
It does not hook onto anything it just pushes that shut off lever into the position you found it when you opened the pump up by a spring loaded device in the solenoid. WHen the solenoid activate it moves that lever thing forward and if the fuel shut off lever is free i follows moving away from...
They do look nice but as you mentioned above much harder to get a hold over. I sort of want one as well they are supposed to be much quieter than the good ol 002,003,004,005's respectivly. Think they are John deere motors in them 4 cycl. They burn less fuel to which is great. I saw one come up...
This is totally off topic and im terrible about getting off topic... I suggest you start a new thread for this and id be happy to give you my experinces thus far. IN the short answer though if you just want a working unit and dont like tinkering and gambling.. Buy one that is restored off ebay...
The lever is all the way back toward the bell housing as was mentioned above which would be CCW.
The solenoid is responsible for shutting the fuel off to the injector pump so the motor stops and can be controlled by the electrical system on the set instead of having to go over there and...
Merry Christmas to you to.
Here is a quick pick of the load bank I was talking about you could set up something like this for well under 150 bucks very cheap...
Like I said essentially a large hot water heater. The switches on top of the breakers allow me to turn on one element at a time...
Three years to get it starte?? Wow long time in coming. You need to take some video of this and post it up here. Why did you modify the fuel system so much did not want to source the parts for the stock one?
THe first wires by the ether start in your pic we all have those hanging in our sets. Just part of the wiring harness, I think they were used on the precise variants but I do not know since I have never seen a precise unit.
THe broken wire on your IP is probably the ground wire. If it was not...
Sounds great sorry I did not respond till now. Yeah the site was down then I went out shooting for the rest of the afternoon so was not really near the computer and then was playing video games all night lol.
Sounds like a runner though, sorry I guess I should have mentioned make sure...
So first thing I would do is take out the float switch from the day tank. Then flip the start switch to run flip the battle short switch on and then look in there and see if fuel is coming out of the solenoid at the top of the day tank. Slide the top float up and see if it stops if that is...
