I still have the ST1100, but I also bought a '05 DL650 so I could play around on something a little lighter that's also capable of playing in the dirt a little too. I'm liking the Wee-Strom enough I might get a SV650 one day and set it up for the track. I haven't played on a track yet and that...
I have a J-pipe that is in tact that I will not be using...
Anyways, both motors and transmissions are ready to come out of the trucks. One will go into Phil's pickup bed and the other will go into the bobbed deuce I'm working on. It's kind of weird to see a deuce that is nothing but a...
FINALLY got back to wrenching on this thing! Cab is now off, motor and trans is completely ready to come out, and the other motor and trans in the other deuce is completely ready to come out. Also, not pictured, I got the rear end of the frame completely primed and I started working on...
It can't be 660 lbs. I was able to completely lift a rear axle off of the ground with our small Kubota tractor. The maximum lifting capacity of that tractor's front end loader is 500 lbs. I'd say the complete rear axle minus the wheels is just shy of 500 lbs. The front is definitely over 500...
I ended up grinding the heads off with an angle grinder on almost all of mine. For the first 20 or rivets I popped out, I used a pickle fork and BFH to drive them out (no drilling). For the rest, I drilled and inserted a punch. It worked great!
My State Farm agent came out and took pictures of the deuce when he insured it. At the time it was stock and insured as a classic antique vehicle. I'm in the process of bobbing the truck, and it's still insured that way, but since it's not on the road, I'm keeping the insurance on it just to...
I'm working that day, otherwise I'd be there. I took nearly two months off of work for vacations and such and I figure I should probably go to work this day to save some leave. Perhaps I'll be around for August.
I mounted mine the exact same distance apart as they were originally mounted on the front of the deuce. I figure if they handle X number of pounds (I think it was 6000 lbs on or off road according to an earlier reply) at that distance apart, then I can put that much weight on the rear end too.
I doubt you'll see it at aberdeen this year. I've still got to find a bunch of parts for power steering and do the engine swap, then sandblast and paint the truck.
PHIL BROKE MY BFH!!!!
But I welded on a nice piece of pipe. The first 3" are solid steel and the rest is hollow pipe arc welded on.
The deuce is sitting on it's own feet now. We pulled it and pushed it back and forth last night. What an accomplishment to no longer have it on blocks!
