This past week I built a beefier hitch to attach my pintle hook to so I could be a bit safer towing the 105's. Robert (M816_someday) helped me out quite a bit and we did the work in his shop. He taught me how to weld during the process, so some of the welds are his and some are mine. All of...
Bringing this back...
A couple of months I ordered a rebuilt pump from TNJ Murray as well. They sent it out right away and it included the mounting bracket. They forgot to include the gear. I tried contacting them for about a week with no success. Finally I got a hold of the man and told...
I have a pair from an old deuce. Old style that are squared off inside, previous non-turbo but modified to fit the turbo. I'll let them go pretty cheap.
Deuce front springs. The suspension doesn't stick out off the side of the frame and the front springs off of a deuce should offer a fairly nice ride compared to 5 ton springs unless you plan on always traveling loaded down.
Another bump as well! I want a set, although I'd probably go for steel for the cheaper cost.
Food for thought though: Has anyone considered having a ring of steel cut out that slips over the entire 6 lug hub of the deuce that has the holes for a 10 lug rim and then having that welded onto...
I would (and am going to) use a bed liner material that adheres to the floor. There will be no chance of trapping moisture that way and it should lost a long while. Plus, if you leave a couple of the holes in the bottom of the cab open, you can wash the floor out with a hose.
If you want to...
In your shoes, I'd probably either keep it like it is or sell it. You can get motors all day long. You can do a 7.3 or you can do a 5.9, or you could do one of the other hundreds of motors out there even. A clean, well taken care of truck doesn't deserve to be chopped up just for the motor.
As mentioned, the proper way to do the lengthening (whether professional or not) is to cut off the ends of the old shaft and weld a completely new shaft in the middle that is the proper length...and then have it balanced. For just the grief alone, I'd have someone else do it.
