He's wanting to do and engine swap that will gain him double or triple the torque of the multifuel. 395's wouldn't be an issue.
Heck for that matter I have no trouble driving my deuce in hills with 395's and the multifuel. No my fuel isn't turned up. Granted I don't have many large hills...
Is that with mounting brackets and wiring harness? The site I posted has the bare unit for 200. I ask because they don't specify much detail on the site you posted. I suppose I could call but at the moment I'm dealing with more pressing issues than an air dryer. (Dead alternater for one)
I can't remember the title of that thread but thats where I got the idea from. Also, if you have/find a piece of 3" pvc pipe with a bell you can use that. The bell is close to the same size as a coupling. In sch. 40 at least. I glued a cap on my tool to give me a striking surface. I can...
The cork plugs are useless. Just use rtv in the key slot. Or if you do use the cork plugs use rtv with it.
A 3" pvc coupling with about a foot or so of 3" sch. 40 pipe glued to it works wonders for driving those inner seals on.
I highly recommend taking the wheel off. With the bottom cap on the kingpins the knuckle and top bushing won't go anywhere. However, more than likely you will end up swinging a very large hammer at it. Then you will need to get those 4 cone shaped spacers that are under the 4 nuts out. If...
Uh I believe it would be called air over spring. There are leaf spring like things that attach to the axle and are anchored by perches. Then the bags attach to the rear of the springs and to the chassis.
You wouldn't believe the ride quality. After building one truck with it I wouldn't hesitate to do it again.
Nice looking bobber. I'm torn on whether I want to build myself a bobber one day.
I'm sure someone has done it. The set up we used was from a tandem freightliner. I don't think it would be hard to adapt it to a 5 ton. In fact it would probably be easier on a 5 ton.
I don't know all of the places that sell the pure air plus but I know eriks has the complete units. Not a horribly outrageous price for them either. I'm going with a bendix ad-9 clone.
Hey gimp, which air dryer do you have? I pretty much know which one I'm going to get but as with everything I take my sweet time.
Edit: Ok nevermind. I read back in the thread and I see you got the pure air plus. Good unit, though not the one I plan on using.
