I have an MKT-85 and converted one of my M1 gasoline burners over to propane and have gotten good results, equivalent to a good condition M1 burning gasoline. It will heat 5 gal. of water just as fast and the spread of the burner distributes the heat widely enough. I had to do 2 things to make...
It's a shot in the dark but just maybe ... Did you check the Emergency Shutoff Valve? It is activated on the dashboard by pulling the Emergency Shutoff knob on the lower right side, BUT it has to be reset under the hood.
That was something another SS member posted as something to put on the...
I don't know how to copy the whole video, but these are on You Tube and you can get the URL by right clicking the center of the video and selecting "Copy video URL", then going to where ever you want to save it and paste it.
The M101 trailers are nice! I have an A1 (5 lug wheels, no surge brakes) that I put 5 on 5 1/2 spindles on to match my Bronco. I also own an A2 that I’m going to pick up in TX in November.
They are rated for 3/4 ton off road which equates to 1.5 ton on the highway. Pulling 3000 lb. takes a...

I can't just put the 11.00 on the same rims as the 9.00s? Any idea where I can get wider rims for the deuce? (maybe I should take this up on the deuce forum).
I may be selling the chassis from the M109 and keeping the box because the engine is non-turbo and runs like dog$#!~ at this altitude...
Can anyone tell me this, what is the biggest tire I can put on my current split rims?
If I pull these tires off, can I put them on my deuce in place of the 9.00 NDTs with split rims that are on it?
Anybody got a bargin for me between here and Ft. Worth, TX (including most of Kansas, New Mexico...
Here's my problem, maybe there's a simpler solution:
That is a Michelin XL 11.00R20 and I RARELY see them go across GL. I would like to go to super-singles, anyway and the first one I posted look inviting.
The truck is in Dublin, TX (80 mi. south of Ft. Worth) right now and I'm in Aurora, CO...
sean011,
I just tuned into your thread. On the 19th I left Ft. Benning, GA in my newly acquired M923 (http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?98445-M923-Recovery-GA-to-CO&highlight=). I got as far as my daughter's in Dublin, TX 90 mi SW of Ft. Worth before we decided to postpone the final...
Helps a lot!! I have been looking at other singles and do see that the wheels are mounted dish-out.
PS I just looked at Dell City, TX on the map; there aren't many roads in your part of the world, are there?!!
I am considering converting the tires on my M923 from 11.00 R20s to 395/85 R20s with wheels to match. I have done a brief search about how to do it and didn't find an answer (If my search wasn't good enough, go ahead and yell at me).
I assume that I need to make the back singles. My question...
I'm confused. A few weeks ago an SS member sent me the link for TM 55-2320-272-14-1 which I copied into my own folder of TMs. BUT I wanted to send a reference to it to a friend, rather than trying to email the HUGE file.
I cannot find that TM in the list of TM. What am I missing?

Thoughts on Owning/Operating a 5 Ton (relative to a deuce)
A 5 ton is a DBT!! (D$&*ed Big Truck).
A deuce tire was tough to handle by 1 guy; a 5 ton tire takes at least 2.
Power Steering is nice!!!
An automatic transmission can spoil you.
A 5 ton has the turning radius of a B52.
You can tell...
Well, all's well that ends well. Thanks Mdmorgan and CycleJay for sending my your phone numbers; I had them ready.
Machinist75 good looking trailer except GL's forklift broke the wasp excluder on the relay valve and bent the bejeebers out of one brake actuator rod. Two of my 3 big trailers...
