Get yourself a few brass punches, after removing the Delivery valve, valve holder, spring and the big hex cap, you can see if the plunger is frozen. Put the largest brass punch that easily fits down in there all the way in and give it a baby tap.

Definitely would recreate the symptoms and when its acting up do a spark test with something like this and checking for a quality spark . Compare findings to when its cooled off and runs well. Guessing no spark or very weak...

The aluminum injector boss/ cooling heatsink corrodes to the steel of the head. I soak them in Kroil for a day or two, and that plus a big pair of channel locks to twist them while pulling up does the job. I had to use the 'oxy wrench' and make it glow once, but Kroil almost always does the job!

Good point, I missed that. On my Saab, it was about 40% low on the offending cylinder and oil brought it up quite a bit...... It still makes the most sense and the symptom is correct....
If there is a restriction in the oil circuit it should flow from the bypass back into the pan. I dont know...

it's either fuel or compression related. I would start with the easiest first and move to the hardest. R&R injectors. Remove them have them pop tested and the spray looked at. Adjust for pop or replace nozzles if the spray looks like crap.
