I didn't want autostart with my MEP003A. I wanted to keep it simple. The more complicated, the more chances for malfunction. I have a 400 amp Square D transfer switch that I throw after I start the generator. My MEP003A is set up to run the entire house. I have never warmed the generator up...
Why didn't you just repair the surge brakes? They are very simple and replacement parts are easy to find. When I got my M116A2 trailer, the surge brakes didn't work. I replaced the shock absorber and one broken hydraulic line. I think the total was about $35.00 for parts. I flushed out the...
I've had extremely good luck with Interstate 6TLs. Both of my deuces came from the military with Interstate 6TLs and I got a lot of years out of them. I replaced both with Interstate 6TLs from my local parts store and they are still performing strong after several years. Both were serviced...
Use your IR gun where the temperature sending unit is located. If you are going to pull the thermostat to test it, I would go ahead and replace it with a new one. Just because looking into the radiator tank looks clean doesn't mean your radiator core isn't plugged up. Another possibility is...
A 1 inch impact will almost certainly do it, but make sure you have adequate air supply for the 1 inch impact. If that doesn't work use a nut splitter or cut it off with a Dremel.
What model truck do you have? All M35 trucks with a manual transmission can be shifted in and out of hi and low range while driving. However, M35A3 trucks are equipped with an Allison automatic transmission and require being stopped and the transmission in neutral to shift the transfer case.
You have an M35A3. Have you downloaded and read the TMs? TM 9-2320-386-24-1-1 has troubleshooting procedures for the Prestolite alternator in your truck. If you don't have a complete set of the TMs for your truck, you should go to www.jatonkam35s.com and download all of the M35A3 manuals you...
Why not leave the batteries installed all year with a battery tender attached when the generator is not being used? Your batteries will last longer if a battery tender is used.
Have you confirmed that the valves are moving and not stuck and that the gap is correct? If not, I would recommend removing the valve cover and looking for any problems there. You have already eliminated some potential causes. Don't give up, you'll find the cause.
I purchased a NOCO Genius G7200 several years ago. It was so good, I now have three of them. This was after I also purchased some other brands that were less expensive, but junk. I like the NOCO Genius G7200 because it handles both 12 and 24 volts and also standard batteries and AGM...
Was it motor oil or ATF? When ATF is burned, or dark brown in color, its a bad sign for transmission health. It normally means that clutches have been slipping. Whatever else you do, you need to make absolutely certain that the transmission is purged completely of motor oil if you switch to...
I still prefer the older MEP003A gensets. They are dependable. Also, they are air cooled, which means no maintenance of the cooling system. They are also relatively fuel efficient when compared to the larger gensets. They are also large enough to handle the entire load of a typical home...
I have an MEP003A genset. We haven't had any issues with computer equipment, televisions, etc. and we don't have any line conditioning equipment installed. Except for the noise of the generator, we can't tell if we are on utility power or the generator.
