The behavior you outlined is typical when motor oil is still in the transmission. Especially downshifting when slowing down or stopping. Switching to Dexron III eliminated this in my A3.
You don't want to put diesel fuel in your transmission. Dexron III isn't that expensive if you buy a five-gallon pail of it. Go to NAPA and buy their Dexron III equivalent. It is made by Ashland Oil and is identical with Valvoline brand Dexron III.
Does the Quad Circuit MOD apply to the MEP003A? The instructions I have (TB11-6115-741-24 (1) says it applies to TQG generators and doesn't mention the 003A genset. My MEP003A genset was manufactured 07/1992 so it was one of the last of this series. If the quad circuit mod does apply to the...
Be mindful that oil leaking while driving can be blown around by air movement and can mislead you on where the oil is actually coming from. I would recommend thoroughly cleaning the engine, differential and anywhere else that has oil on it. Start the engine and let it run for a long time while...
If the set came to you with fuel in it, I would drain the fuel and purge the fuel lines when you replace the fuel filter. I personally wouldn't worry about the piston rings at present. Also, you mentioned that they had been trying to start the set. Read the TM.
Thin the paint with Xylene. That is what was recommended to me by RAPCO. The 383 Green came out as an almost perfect match for the CARC and sprayed great. It is also holding up very well.
Depending on what Jeep you have, you might want to load it in the bed instead of towing it. However, the downside with that is that if you break down towing the Jeep, you can drive the Jeep if needed without having to unload it from the truck.
After my switch to Dexron III, I've had zero problems. Just the opposite. The transmission is much much happier and I've put thousands of miles on it since the switch.
Being stuck at home due to the Corona Virus is driving me nuts. I've been spending time doing PM on my A3 deuce and tractors, but that is like work. I needed a break. I decided to take my M1030M1 out for a trail ride on my property today. I have 40 mountainous acres and quite a lot of...
I understand that. What happens if low range is selected. I'm wondering if the transmission is not actually in 1st gear. I had a truck once that, when cold, the transmission hung up in third gear and the truck would barely move from stopped. I determined the problem by jacking up the rear...
You need to find out what is causing the noise. I had an A2 that made a slight ticking noise in 5th gear only, when slowing down. Then one day, the transmission started shelling teeth from the gears. Totally destroyed the transmission.
Follow NDTs directions to get the truck off the trailer. More than likely you have an issue with the battery cables and/or grounding not making good contact.
