Great Idea guys. Why not mark each member location with a number instead of initials and then have a directory. You could also mark scrap yards, parts houses, GL sites, military museums, water holes, red light districts and other points of interest. Any member who wants to participate could...
Sounds GOOP to me! (I'm sorry - couldn't resist...) I had forgotten about that stuff. It's kinda like J-B Weld - sticks to anything.
I'll give it a try. Thanks for the tip.
p.S. I'm assuming that was plain ol' GOOP; not one of the variations?
Back to the coil - I should have said "Check the voltage on the hot side of the PRIMARY" ( that's the screw terminal other than the one that goes to the points). It's marked with a "+" on most coils. Incidentally, reversing the primary connections to a coil will often cause misfires because the...
Thanks for the info on injector and pump service. I've been fighting slobbering and huge clouds of white smoke for months now and I've decided
to get the injectors tested and if necessary, the pump. Seems like a good time to test compression and leakdown too.
Has anybody had any experience with taking an injection pump to one of those injector-and-pump service companies for a checkout or rebuild? Can they do it and what does it cost?
If I were betting, I'd bet on it being an ignition problem. Most likely a coil going bad. Most of the battery-and-coil ignition systems also carried a ballast resistor in series with the coil to keep it from burning up if the points were closed 100% of the time. I don't know if that's the...
Bjorn, I'll bet you know the answer to this one also. My IP is tagged that the FDC has been disconnected to avoid oil dilution. How does the fuel wind up in the crankcase? Is that a universal problem worth being concerned about? And if it's a problem, I wonder if the unwashed BD is...
JR,
I'm in Dallas if you need any free advice! Mine is a 70 Kaiser Jeep w/w. Axles are a good place to look although a depot rebuild will reset everything. A Tooele plate on the dash is a clue... Also check the date on the engine data plate (unless it was swapped!) You kinda have to go with...
Thanks! How come I can't find that with a search? Oh well. I can't believe that was 4 months ago! So anybody had any experiences with injectors, pumps, compression or leakdown?
Deuce tune-up
Back before the Great Crash of 2005, I started a topic on doing a tune-up to the multifuel and it got lost somewhere; a search doesn't find it and I can't...
So the challenge is to find out why it smokes, slobbers and puffs. I thought I'd do the fuel injector nozzle test per TM...
I was drooling over the pipeline truck but this is way cool !!! Is that an Austin-Western crane like the 5 tons or something else? It doesn't look as beefy as the 5 ton crane but has the same lines.

If driving in the rain is fun, all I've got to say is you picked the right state to do it in! And speaking of wipers, I've discovered that if the air pressure is too high (over 105) the wiper motors and the horn won't work. How dey do dat?
RDD is right about the blade markings. The "2" is located in the holder where the arm connects. If not so marked the arm wobbles allowing the blade holder to rotate. Not good! This was a Trico issue that worked it's way into the NAPA stock, Just check before you leave the store to avoid...
Wish we knew somebody who had one to blueprint. I'd like to see what the Army thought was a good idea. If you've got a hard top it looks like you'd need to remove it or build a support for the front of the bed to get the cable/chain up over the hardtop.
