One of the differences between the sprag clutch transfer case and the air-shift transfer case is different front wheel gearing. The air shift transfer case doesn't have a sprag assembly.
There seems to be a lot of confusion around about how the sprag transfer works. It's sprag (referring to the...
No, the sprag case doesn't work that way. The linkage from the transmission does not engage and disengage the front wheel drive; it changes the direction of the one-way sprag clutch. The front drive works in all transmission gears.
You could probably get a replacement transistor from an electronics distributor like Digi-Key or Mouser. Are there any part numbers on the transistor? How about a picture of it?

When I pulled the steering wheel on my M38A1, I used a military surplus puller kit that I got on eBay. I don't have a picture handy, but it's a style that looks kind of like a C-clamp. It hooks around the back of the steering wheel hub, and has a screw which bears against the steering wheel...
Your transfer case should not pop out of gear like that. Something is definitely wrong with it.
I've never had much trouble downshifting a deuce, but I'm in the habit of double-clutching my downshifts. I'll even downshift into 1st gear when approaching a parking spot, garage, etc., even though...
I haven't done a whole truck yet, but I had some paint made for touch-up just like you did. I brought a radio with clean 383 green CARC to Home Depot and had them match the color with a flat exterior grade paint.
Remember, if the paint job isn't sloppy, it isn't military! ;)
Your truck looks good in those pics, and I'd guess that you got it at a reasonable price, too. Like Joe says, lots of folks here have stuff laying around that might help you. And assuming your bearings and gears aren't damaged, you'll probably just end up needing a new axle vent, a few seals...
Yeah, that sounds like a plugged vent all right. If the seller never drove it far enough to heat it up enough to build up enough pressure to push out the oil, then he never would have known about it. It'll probably be a cheap fix once you get it home.
I think the original poster is asking about the M109A3 shop van and its cousins. They're less common than the cargo trucks, but not too hard to find. Another nice option is to get a regular cargo truck and put a suitable commo shelter on it. For example, an M35A2 with an S-280 shelter. Take a...
I finally had a chance to go look at my bee-infested truck again today. It's been almost a week since the poisoning attempt. This time I felt bolder in my home-made bee suit (military surplus mechanic's coveralls, mil surplus insect head net, and some gloves), and I got in a lot closer to the...
