    My Four (!) New CUCVs

Do the CUCV alternators have voltage adjustments like the regular military alternators do, or are they fixed? Yeah, I know, it's in the manual somewhere... :) The shift indicator got stuck over on the right side when I fiddled with the shifter. That clip with the wire is still attached to the...

    My Four (!) New CUCVs

Thanks for the info. I don't know what "S3" means, though. Yesterday, I reattached the MP truck's rear driveshaft and checked fluid levels. Then I tried charging up the batteries, but the lower battery just sucked a lot of current at around 7 volts. I then checked fluids and tried charging...

    I'm back (nearly)

RE: NICE TRUCK You know, I think that the current paint color looks nice, too.

    I'm back (nearly)

I like the 3-color green CARC camo pattern. Here's what it looks like on a shop van: http://www.nf6x.net/greentruck/truck4/p04.jpg I bought that truck from Bruce Kubu. I don't have it any more, though. I think it would be really neat to have a vehicle painted with digital camo to match the...

    I'm back (nearly)

Man, if I could get a diesel Smart with an engine that can burn straight WMO, my bank account would make an audible "pop" from the money suddenly coming out of it. :D

    I'm back (nearly)

It's exactly the same here. Some guys wouldn't be caught dead in a small truck or car, and lifted pickups with big wheels are a common sight. The funny thing is, when most people see some guy driving an oversized truck, they'll assume he's compensating for having a small package. ;)

    I'm back (nearly)

Oh, we just get the gasoline ones here in the U.S. :( The EPA mileage ratings are 33 city and 41 highway, which is good but not great. I think a Smart would have trouble on my rough dirt road due to limited ground clearance, and the mileage just isn't amazing enough to win me over. Luckily I can...

    I'm back (nearly)

Hmm, I had looked into the "battery box", since they've fairly recently become available in the US and I have a 40 mile commute in my 15 MPG Toyota pickup truck. I didn't recall the EPA mileage ratings being that impressive. It seemed that they were optimized mainly for being small, and not so...

    M1009 Bridge Class Number

Some of us nerds like to use 42... but I like to use the proper number. I'm just like that. :) Thanks for the info!

    M1009 Bridge Class Number

Yes, I'm asking about the number to display on the bridge plate. Thanks!

    M1009 Bridge Class Number

Maybe I'm going blind, but I didn't find the correct M1009 bridge plate number to use in the -10 manual, the TM 43-0001-31, or in a quick search of the CUCV forum. I also looked on the dataplate and loading plate in my truck. Do any of y'all know what it should be? How about for the M1008?

I just joined the M109A3 club....

The truck looks nice, and the price looks great! That mystery board on the passenger wall looks like it has a plexiglass cover held on by wing nuts. My guess is it's some sort of improvised map board - put maps under the plexi, and maybe mark them up with a whiteboard marker.

SO UGLY BUT I WANT IT!

Wow, I've been looking at the other pictures on the web page you linked to. That is the oddest-looking vehicle I've ever seen. I'm totally cereal. I'd better stop looking... the last time I was this fascinated with an odd, ugly MV, I ended up buying a Gama Goat!

SO UGLY BUT I WANT IT!

Oooh, I know. I just noticed the second pair of smaller wheels hiding underneath the truck. The engine compartment cowl plus those two smaller axles are part of the escape pod, in case the truck breaks down! Does anybody else see that? :) But seriously, it does look like two differently-sized...

SO UGLY BUT I WANT IT!

I see what you mean! It looks like they designed the truck, and then realized they forgot the engine and hung one on the front. Or maybe it's the illegitimate son of a light truck and a soapbox racer? rofl

    My Four (!) New CUCVs

I've been looking at that logo on the MP truck and doing some googling. I think that truck may have "belonged" to Captiain Bobby Britton, commander of the 670th Military Police Company at some point in the early 2000's. I don't know if he's still their commander, or still a captain, or even...

    So Cal fall desert trip

I'm sorry that I'm missing the trip this year (I really need to finish moving, because I'm paying rent and a mortgage right now... ouch!), but maybe I'll make it next year! Say, is anybody thinking about another Fontana boneyard run later this year? I think I'd be up for one around November or...
