MV Licensing in Michigan - What are the requirements?

Bumping an old thread here.... The SOS here refused to license it as a private plate. They said they could not do it because of the weight, at 13030. The title is listed as 1976 AMC JEEP "stake truck". What are you guys plated as? Obviously, farm plates won't help me, or you guys that are...

    Heath's M35A2... the beginning

Will do. I have to wait for computer parts from UPS before running some errands and heading out to work on her. By the way, I'm heading back to Copemish on Sunday with a couple Taurus's to pick up a dog someone dumped off at Dennis's place. (A really sweet tan lab bitch that matched the tan...

    Heath's M35A2... the beginning

Yeah, read the thread a couple of times. Mine is only having issues when I'm moving slow and need to grab 3rd again. I'm not trying to compression brake, but when I'm slowing down, I like to have the trans in a gear that matches the speed to start moving again... even if I'm on my way to a stop...

    Heath's M35A2... the beginning

Dude... My favorite builds on here (And it's hard because there are so many...) are Sewerzuk, Jesusgatos, and anything Gringletaube touches. I can try to keep up, but that is one high bar those boys set.

    Heath's M35A2... the beginning

I checked for water at the filters ... all good there. But, it just so happens I have a brand new set going in shortly. Dennis runs WMO and I believe some WVO... I think some crud has been broken loose. (I do have to get some oil filters and change that as well) My priorities are : #1...

    Heath's M35A2... the beginning

The paint is peeling down to Vietnam era paint AND NUMBERS! The only ones I have found so far are the large "US ARMY" and truck ID number underneath. The main fuel line coming out of the primary filter is 90% crushed at the insulator under the radiator. (Very hard to see) That gets...

    Heath's M35A2... the beginning

So here is the thread on my truck. I'll begin by showing a few pictures of the current state, issues, and what I have done so far. She's a fairly normal M35A2... whistler turbo... stock as sold by GL to Dennis in Copemish, Michigan. The data plate on the passenger side of the engine is...

    M35a2 Tool Kit?

Are you looking for what Uncle Sugar put in originally, or what you should carry today. There are two different lists.

    Planning a West Michigan recovery.

Odd side note... the truck data tag seems to say it's a 1985 LDT and it has a "C" turbo, but the injection pump has a giant red tag on it that says LDS 465 A1. As you can see the camera sucks. I'll have to clean the pics up.

You have that right. And the same goes for you as well Don. I went from "No big deal" to "FML" in about 10 seconds when that jack ran out of travel, and I ran out of lower points to place it. It never dawned on me to bring cribbing. I figured that jack was my back-up for the super duper...

    Planning a West Michigan recovery.

The real joy was finding the source of the fuel leak. (Don knows what I'm talking about) Around 36th street at 11:00.... just after getting the tire on... what was a pesky dripping fitting burst and blew mixed waste oil fuel through the steering shaft hole into my lap. I figured what it was...

    Planning a West Michigan recovery.

The truck was supposed to have a jack... the 12ton bottle jack i brought was 3 inches short on travel. 15 minutes later, the fuel line blew apart. I just got home. Beat. I'll post later.

    Planning a West Michigan recovery.

I'm probably going up 131 in the car. As much as I should preview the route home, I'm reluctant to waste an extra hour puttering my way up there at 55 and below. As soon as I hear back from the insurance guy, I'm off to the bank to grab the cash. The only things I'm concerned with are traffic...

    Planning a West Michigan recovery.

I'm really torn. I might try the M37 shot down to try to bypass GR to the west. I'm thinking downtown Grand Rapids won't be fun, and I'd rather not even be close to Division Ave in something that might break down... even armed. 131 is a straight shot... but the S curves I'm talking about for...

    Planning a West Michigan recovery.

I would love to just run 131, but I don't think I really want to put the deuce through the s-curves in GR on my first drive... or ever if I can help it. And if I have to stop-n-go, I would rather be in the smaller towns than around Alpine Ave. Everything from Muskegon down is glorified country...
