There's no wagon in that picture.

Going to look at Deuce -HELP-

I've talked to him on the phone. He's getting out of the MV business and, according to his craigslist ads, he was trying to have these all gone by the end of 2009. He might have even said he was losing his storage place out there by the interstate, but I can't remember. Either way, I'd bet...

    High Range problem, HELP

I suppose you've already got it changed over to the manual, but did you ever check the fluid pressure on this thing? I realize you were probably pretty frustrated, but that is a pretty important troubleshooting step.

I am Wondering... Noob questions inside

He said both rear axles and the bed not shortened, but I'm guessing he was mistaken on that as the one you posted is the only one I've ever seen on there. If there is one with both rear axles and a full bed, I'd like to see it. That would be some kind of monster.

    Restoration (seeking opinions)

I've never done the rallies or anything, but from the various message boards, I get the impression that the only people that worry about all the little nitty gritty details are the Jeep MB/GPW crowd. I think that's only because a properly restored Jeep can go for tens of thousands of dollars...

    Deuce modern equivalent?

Ah, very interesting. That looks pretty close to what I was thinking, actually.

    Deuce modern equivalent?

You're probably right, but you can build just about anything you want. I was wondering if there was anything "off-the-shelf" that even compared to a deuce. Something with an updated chassis, drivetrain, etc., a water/air tight cab and some simple comforts (better seats, A/C), but not a luxury...

    Deuce modern equivalent?

Wonder what it would take to build a stripped-down, modern workhorse like the deuce? Cargo bed, 6x6, power steering, air/hydraulic disc-brakes (or drums), heat, A/C, big diesel, automatic overdrive transmission. But, I don't want all the fancy creature comforts like the GM and International...

    Deuce modern equivalent?

Good call on the Internationals. Checked out their site and the DuraStar and WorkStar trucks look to be pretty close. Awesome looking trucks. I'd like to see one decked out with a cargo bed, winch and some big off-road tires. Still not as cool as a deuce (and waaaay more expensive), but I...

    Deuce modern equivalent?

Just curious, what would you guys say is the modern civilian equivalent of a deuce? In other words, if I wanted to buy a 2.5 ton off-road truck (4x4 or 6x6) with all the modern conveniences, what would I buy? I did a little Googling and it looks like the GM C4500 Kodiak is pretty close but it...

Problems during fluid/filter changes and leak issues

Yes, you can still run other fuels, you will just get varying degrees of performance based on fuel type. That's my understanding, anyway.

    draining tanks after driving

Because one is running air tools and the other is running the brakes on a 14,000 lb truck?

I see an M715 back there, too, I think.

    Deuce snow plow?

Interesting. I think this is a pretty widely held misconception, then.

    Deuce snow plow?

Understood, it just seems like an unnecessary risk to me. As far as the measurements, my understanding is that 9.00 or 11.00 is generally referred to as the sidewall height of the tire. These tires are assumed to have a 100% aspect ratio, so it also happens to be the width. A 9.00 x 20 tire...

    Deuce snow plow?

Wont it cause the rears to bind in the transfer case which would then cause them to skid? What about when you go in reverse? On snow or mud, I could see how there would be enough slip for it not to matter, but on dry pavement, I would think it would be bad news.

    Deuce snow plow?

That's what I was thinking, too. That sounds like a recipe for disaster.

    Cool pics....make that Chevy work!
