I agree that the stand alone genset is a much better idea. The PTO generator on my M1031 works great for very temporary use, Producing it's power at 3 PHASE to run the welder and air compressor, And also provide some single phase 120 volt power for lights and hand tools. The motor is governed...
I did not change out the speedometer gearing to correct for the oversize tires, So cannot correctly calculate mileage that way, My "guesstimate" is maybe 2 to 3 MPG better.
I am just amazed how good the mileage is on these trucks with even the stock tires and gears!
The main reason I wanted...

Here is a link to the ARRL band plan:
Band Plan
Which lists 50.3 to 50.6 Mhz as "Any mode" I am quite sure the RT/246 is legal to use in the 6 meter band, HOWEVER it is just so much...

Motorola Encryption Topics - The RadioReference Wiki
The easy cheap way to get some good privacy is to just buy a surplus radio system, That has something like DVP (Digital Voice Protection) That was sold by Motorola to police departments, etc in the 1980's and is true digital encryption. As pointed out, You cannot use such encryption in the ham...
209.95 each IS a great price for the custom wheels and 80% Plus tires! I paid close to 200 each for stock wheels and about 90% tires at a local show, So no shipping.
The two trucks I looked at and talked with the owners who had done the swap and fender trimming were both M1008's, Which looked just like my M1031.
All I have personally done so far is install the wheels and tires on the back, And attempted to install them on the front when I found the tie rod...

(I have an old tube type marine VHF radio that has been converted to the ham band I will sell cheap.......
I really don't think such steps will be needed. My own opinion is to just get a...
No spacers are needed in the rear. The spacers (Or different offset wheels) ARE needed at the front. Otherwise the wheels hit the tie rods.
AFAIK with the spacers on front, Some fender trimming is all you need, If you trim enough, No lift kit needed.
The trucks I have seen done kept the...
I have a 10,000 pound HF winch that I would like to mount to a steel frame that could pin to the tow hook brackets, So the winch could be moved from front to back.
Has anyone fooled with making such a bracket so I am not re-inventing the wheel here?
I just got a LED single contact bulb to replace the incandescent in mine, While it runs lots cooler and draws lots less power, It does not produce the same amount of light..... I suspect mostly because the focal length of the LED's being different?
YEP! Really. How shady can you get? An exemption for those four vehicles?
It is fine to issue a collector plate to a Pinzgaur but not a common CUCV?
It is very clear that Wisconsin has far too many lawyer types and others working at DOT that need to be defunded.
I agree with the first...
I picked up a set of 31X11.50 "Mud" tires from a kid for cheap, And I can see why. Although the really big lugs DO provide good traction in the dirt/mud, On the highway they are REALLY noisy! Be careful with the really big lug tires if you want to have an enjoyable highway ride too!
