Sorry to hear you're not going to make it down in the deuce, Jim - but how about taking a drive down in the family car? I know, it's not the same - but at least you'd get to attend that way.
Do you need a genset that large for your application? There are two issues if it's significantly larger than you really need; it's water cooled, and will therefore likely suffer to some degree from wet stacking, and it's also going to really suck down the fuel - even lightly loaded. Wet-stacking...
Isaac's statement is correct - the real 'bargain' gensets are no bargain at all in the long run. I should have been more clear - I'm specifically thinking of Briggs and Stratten or Techumseh powered units. A step up would be a Honda or perhaps a Yamaha (although I've never owned one from...
It does vary; I got a gas powered 5KW unit and the only thing it needed to be fully operational was a good carb cleaning to remove rust from the bowl. An MEP-003A I bought needed an injection pump to make operational - and made that unit more expansive than I would have liked, but still a lot...
JT is a heck of a nice guy, and is great to deal with. I don't know what he'll be bringing for inventory, but he's expected to be at the Weare, NH MVMVC rally at the end of this month. I'm looking forward to spending some more money on his items - it's all good stuff.
I really wish you hadn’t posted that video of the turbine powered single place ship. Back in the early 90’s, I flew R22’s out of a training school in Southern New Hampshire; flying a helicopter is truly the most fun you can have with your clothes on. Unfortunately, flying rotorcraft was a rich...
For all their faults, the EUC wait isn’t one you can rightly blame GL for. Any wait associated with submitting the EUC to BC is GL’s responsibility. Any time the EUC is in limbo at BC rests squarely with the government and DLA.
GL wants you to get the item as soon as possible and get it off...
I'll be there on Saturday - perhaps Friday as well if I can get the time off from work.
MVMVC members are expected to put in an hour worth of effort when they go to the rally to share the load with the small handful of folks that normally put in most of the time. Sign-up sheet for tasks...
The MEP glow plugs are no fun at all - but you found the key; lots of PB-Blaster, and slow, small movements working the plug back and forth like working a tap. Never more than a quarter of a turn without reversing direction to break chips and debris in the threads. The GP is really cuttting...
Oak is much harder than pine - the floor will hold up much better. Also, make certain you get white oak - not red oak; red oak is open cell in its nature and will allow water to enter much more easily than white oak will.
If I were doing the job, I'd spend the money on white oak and do it once...
I had IP problems when I first got my 003A; there was a missing part inside the IP - the delivery valve, if memory serves. Parts from AMBAC for the pump are there - but way too expensive. Ended up buying another IP, and purchasing the correct timing button from AMBAC, and that solved my issues...
Do you still have the 003a? If so, you should spend some time troubleshooting it, as there's really not all that much that can go wrong with them. They are really simple electrically; shouldn't take more than an hour or two to get to the bottom of it - could be as simple as a bad DC breaker.
In Engineering, we make it a point to ask not if we can do something but rather if there is a compelling reason to do so. If the proposed idea fails the test of compelling reason, it dies right then and there. If the idea refuses to die after failing the test (perhaps because someone in...
Greetings. Looks like I'm not likely to make it to COMVEC in Chester, CT this coming weekend. A member has a set of M35 softtop hardware (bows and other reasonably small parts - no canvas) for me and will be there. I'm looking for someone that's got the space to grab these parts that will be...
$80/gal hazmat? To Florida? No, something is wrong in your calculation.
I purchased 4 gallons of Gillispie and a couple rattle cans of the same from Rapco, and the entire order including shipping and hazmat fees was less than $200.
