We have to err on the side of caution. I realize that if either the panel breaker was in the on position or the generator output was in the on position it could work. However, if both were on at the same time it would mean generator disaster. We don't know your skill level and or common sense...

A member makes spin on filter kits which are great.
Post questions as you go. You will probably have to clean/flush the fuel...
What you described above is not just less than ideal. It is potentially dangerous and illegal.
Get that panel feed done properly before someone gets hurt or damage occurs to the generator or the panel.
Once you have the output properly wired or disconnected from the panel use the TMs to...
You need to stop immediately and get some professional help before someone gets hurt.
Generator power and power company power do not mix.
Have an electrician come out and disconnect whatever isn't right and make recommendations on the proper way to install a generator.
I have been able to get all my GL gens running, so far. I still have an 003 that I got running but have not gotten into the power making part, yet.
If you bid on one from GL with low hours and that looks complete I'd estimate your chances of getting a good running unit with a little effort and...
Many gens will bog if you put an unbalanced load on them. They generally have 2 or 3 output windings and if you load one up and leave the other(s) unloaded they can be unhappy.
As far as finding a good deal on one you have to be patient, check the classifieds here, check ebay, and check...
I think the L100 Yanmar is overkill for the 3kW gen head. IIRC the dry weight of the 701A is 532 lbs.
Agree on the 701A as an outdoor shelter. Although not necessary, it definitely is good if you have to store the unit outdoors. On the other hand, I don't like the necessity of the fans and...
Good, used 701As are around $500-1000. At auction sometimes they are half that but you don't know what you're getting when you buy at auction, it may run fine or may require repairs.
I prefer the MEP-016D, which has the same gen head as the 701A but is Yanmar powered, lighter, and has a pull...
I don't know how I missed this thread originally. As you can see in the video I gutted the control box. I'm hoping to find a 017 head to use with this L100. Looks like I paralleled the outputs on the terminal board. The two terminals on the left are the field. The black and white wire...
Uh, the guy over on smokstak may be me. Here is a video of mine running:
Here is the thread about it:

$400 delivered is a steal. I would buy several in that condition for that price right now.
It should run at 3600 not 3400.
It may be louder than your gas gen but sometimes things that are technically louder are more tolerable because of the frequencies they emit. Generally, lower...
