I don't think you can compare any generator sold at Home Depot to an MEP-003A.
I may be wrong but I don't think the majority of Home Depot gens ever make it past 1000 hours, even if maintained correctly.
The 3k Pramac Diesel gen Home Depot sells is nice, Yanmar powered, and cost $3000.
Pramacs...
OK, no problem. Ebay links are sometimes a good thing but I understand why we might not want them being posted.
The convenience outlet is good for some troubleshooting and maybe a small work light.
10dB can be a lot, especially if the difference is 82 vs. 92.
85dB is twice as loud as 83dB. The scale is logarithmic, I think.
+3dB is a doubling of sound. 90s are loud.
The ASK is also a weather shield, IMO. The 003 ASK that I have could stand some improvement, though. I think some good...
To get valuable numbers you will need to do them in the same environment, with the same equipment, and from the same distances. Simple things like elevating the unit on 4x4s and having them on grass can make a huge difference. Also, sound measurement is very much relative. Conditions...
You should buy mine. You could probably recoup most of the cost by selling the extra parts when you get one going. Mine runs but I haven't cleaned the fuel tank or made power, yet.
I may start working on it again soon, though.
They are available. You can get #s from this link and search for other sources:
Facet 24V Electric Fuel Pump
They are some going for $60 used (aircraft version) on ebay currently.
You gave clues that indicated that it might be a Yanmar.
If the lack of fuel was caused by the same problem as the tripping breaker then it had to be a Yanmar as the Onan has a mechanical lift pump. The Yanmar has an electric lift pump.
You'll probably find the 24V Facet electric fuel pump is...
^ This. If you have one large gen by the house then a smaller, portable gen at the other location would give you flexibility. 50-60 Amps, however, is not really in the realm of portable unless you have it trailer mounted. I don't see how it could be cheaper to run CU or AL wire (either above...
Now it appears you have an electrical (breaker tripping) and fuel (dry lines and filter) problem. So, either you have two issues going at the same time or maybe one issue with an electric fuel pump, if the unit has be retrofitted with a different motor.
Can you post a pic of your unit? It...
Now you know why it was DRMOd.
Like he said above, the relays are most probably not the problem. They are, however, troubleshooting tools. Pull one out and run the set. If it trips then put that one back and pull another. If it does not trip then start finding out what that relay services...
As electronics go the VR is pretty simple to work on. You'll need basic soldering skills.
Testing procedures should be in the TM. Components can be found online.
Transistors are usual suspects. When soldering transistors, in general, you want to avoid overheating them. A small soldering...
They may have DRMO's the unit because someone took a fuel pump off. You can run without it. Or, you can spend $$ and get a replacement. There are usually a few 002s and 003s being parted by someone.
