I just picked up a 017A donor. It has been sitting a while but is mostly complete.
I just want to 5kW head and maybe the bell housing so the rest is up for grabs.
I also have the harness from a 016E that I gutted in good shape.
Let me know exactly what you need and I'll see what...
Then you may have broken it. If nothing else there is a fan on that motor that will not cool properly if turning the wrong way. There really is no option for rotation here. The gen head doesn't care if it goes CW or CCW but the Diesel motor certainly does. I am pretty sure the oil pump will...
To kill a Diesel you must shut off fuel or air or both.
It is a good idea to not start a Diesel until you familiarize yourself with some sort of manual shutdown alternative.
I've seen your ads on CL and your prices seem low to me. I'm not saying you should raise them. If you are happy selling for those prices then keep it up but it seem like you put a lot of effort into them.
The transfer pump is on the side. It has the handle for priming. It send fuel to the IP which in turn sends fuel to the injector. The injector should be on top of the motor.
Most Diesels I've worked on have 17mm injector fitting nuts. Crack it about 3/4 turn. Turn the motor over. After a short period you should get a spurt, spurt, spurt.
Note:
Diesel injector pumps are HIGH pressure things. You don't want the line open and spraying into space. Just loosen the...
Did you crack the fuel line at the injector pump and turn it over until you get a rhythmic spurt?
Can you verify that the shutdown solenoid is not engaging when it shouldn't?
See pic. Are those tabs clipped or shorter or different from the other tabs that the other breakers are connected to? If so then you can't put a feed breaker there without some modification.
The interlock could be a simple slotted metal tab and a couple of screws.
Are you sure about that? It looks like there are two tabs sticking up.
It should work if the empty space looks just like the spaces under the existing breakers. It is hard to tell from the pic if the connection...
Also forgot to mention there is a low fuel shutdown so if your tank is low it will not run or start. You can reach into the tank and raise the float to bypass the low fuel shutdown.
Bleed the air out of the fuel filter.
Prime with the electric fuel pump, if any. Then work the priming lever on the lift fuel pump. Then crack the fuel line at the injector (open about 3/4 turn) and turn the motor over until you get rhythmic spurts. Tighten the injector line and it should go...
