That gen should run 4kW loads all day long. In the eyes of the military that gen will put out AT LEAST 3kW, even at extreme temps and altitudes. In normal situation it will do 4.5kW and probably surge even higher for short periods.
Disposable crap generators are over rated. Military...
Wet stacking is more of a problem in larger gens. I doubt you'll ever see it in the single cylinder 3600RPM gens.
Your smoker probably just needs a tune up, valves set, etc.
If that doesn't do it, you may try swapping the injector pumps and see if the smoke follows the pump.
I've had one...
Let me know the part # when you get a chance. Also, is the check valve necessary? I may revert back to the original style fuel filter because it appears to have a water separator function, too. I suppose the T from the injector bypass to the fuel filter is to give the filter a little positive...
Mine doesn't have a valve there, just a metal elbow at the tank. The T goes down to the fuel filter assembly. My unit was missing the fuel filter assembly, part #70 shown on page 84 of the TO manual. So, I just put an inline filter in the hose to the injector pump. I also deleted the T and...
It is grab and run backup. I haven't taken readings, yet, but to me it seems quieter than 3500W gas generators.
My gen arsenal is getting there:
Honda EU2000i
30D36R
MEP-016D
MEP-016E (10HP Yanmar 5 or 7.5kW upgrade project in the works)
MEP-003A (not running, yet, and for sale as is)...
Me, too. Those are nice but not single man portable. I have a water cooled Kubota gen, but it isn't a MEP. The 531, 831, and 903 are all nice, but rarely seen at DRMO sales.
What valve? Can you post a pic? There is a valve on the bottom of the fuel tank for fuel on/off. The top is...
Got the little Pow'R Gard 3kW going. It needed to have the tank flushed. There was some goop like Caramel in there. It was very sticky and gummy and GoJo did not phase it. The in tank fuel filter was clogged solid with the goop and had to be trashed. The external filter/water separator was...
Did you try the last link?
LESO is Law Enforcement, but there are other programs that allow govt. agencies to get stuff. I know some Fire Departments have big red Deuces and I know they did not buy them new.
Government agencies get first crack at surplus stuff. Fire departments, cops, etc., can apply for and receive equipment at no cost.
I think every Sheriff and City Police office should have a couple of Deuces. But, most don't understand the potential usefulness and shy away from cost of upkeep.
I'm not an electrician but I don't think I've ever seen a residential panel that didn't have the neutral and ground buses both bolted down to the inside of the panel, essentially connected electrically.
Looks like:
Ground battery cable goes to G, another cable goes from G to chassis ground.
Hot battery cable goes to B.
Small wire goes to either 12 or S, depending on starter type.
Can someone verify this? The small wire should go to 11 or 12, I'm thinking 12, but it is hard to tell from the...
Nowadays lawn mowers, weedeaters, and such are disposable. Most of the commercially available generators are, too. I would be very surprised if any gen from Home Depot would go past 1000 hours. They don't even put hour meters on most of them.
Hydro does denote water. But, as you stated, it can mean fluid other than water.
I get your pun. But, since he it trying to fix his gen and the real "hydrolock" (hydrostatic lock) in this case would almost certainly involve fuel, you may be confusing the issue.
Hydrolock - Wikipedia, the...

How a gen works:
If you spin a coil of wire through a magnetic field it will make electricity.
The magnetic field can be either permanent magnet or, as in this case, electromagnet.
Actually in the case of these gens we are spinning a magnet (rotor) inside of stationary coils...
