The X had to do with the trucks not being bought under contract !! The trucks were bought without the contract, like it was mentioned above !! There is really no difference with the vehicle other then the way it was bought !!
There is a place down in Hooks Tx. just outside of the gate at the Red Rock Army Depot !!They have tires in most sizes that is where M1075 (James) Get his supply from ..
All M809 Series 5 ton trucks will have the air cleaner on the Left or Drivers side fender .. All M39 Series 5 ton trucks will have the air cleaner on the Right or Passenger side fender this includes all Multifuel truck and Mack powered trucks !!!
the sprag gets engaged by the air valve when you shift from reverse gear to first gear it will engage the sprag for it
to go forward or in reverse . the transfer case is engeged by using the level in the cab for Hi or Low range selection
You might check with Warthog he has a parts truck that you could pull your engine and trans and transfer it to that chassis and have a new truck !! His M1009 motor is not running and the transmission is gone would be a good truck to do as a rebuild !! The body is straight on it he got it from...

one thing to check is the glad hand valves on the back of your truck make sure they are closed ,because if they are open and your gladhand covers are off iot will exhaust your air supply very quickly when you apply the brakes !! you can do this with the engine off and the air supply full then...
