Bunch of M818 5 tons for sale on GL in Smyrna

I hope someone on the list bought some of these. The two I was watching closed for less than $1700. I had to keep telling myself I just didn't have the time or the money to buy another truck right now. Any thoughts why the trucks with winches brought 2 to 5 thousand more than the ones...

    Contact Maintenance......GEEZ....

The Contact Maintenance trucks seem to go 50 to 100% higher than all the rest of the CUCVs from what I have seen. $4000 would be typical if the generator and compressor are still in it. I wouldn't have bid it without knowing though.

Mutilation and How to register if NO SF97 issued

I would stay away from this sale. The new mutilation requirements are pretty strict. They may want it cut into 18 inch chunks are crushed on site with a car crusher. Who knows, there may be an F14 part in the glove box of one of those trucks and God forbid that be allowed out into the public.

    Starting/battery issue

11.5 is low for a fully charged battery. If it is good it must be discharging overnight.

    Battery Pole Polarity Reversal

I did the same thing to a M725. The batteries were low from sitting too long, put a 12v charger on 1 battery without unhooking the inter battery cable and came back and the other battery had a reverse charge. I just unhooked the inter battery cable and put the charger on the other battery. It...

    Starting below 0 degrees?

RE: Re: RE: Starting below 0 degrees? i noticed that you had converted to 12v and battery is singular. Do you only have one battery? Civi truck still have two batteries hooked up in parallel. You still need the extra power of two batteries even in 12v systems esp at the colder temps you are...

    12 volts from a 24 volt system

RE: Re: 12 volts from a 24 volt system The best way is to get a solid state 24v to 12v converter. For small loads like a cell phone charger just tap the center post of the batteries.

    DASH PAD

Anybody tried a GM dealer lately. The last time I did they told me they were discontinued, but it has be 2 or 3 years ago. I was wondering if they brought them back due to demand or are they only online? Seems like shipping would be high and the one I bought from a dealer wasn't in much of a...

Newb with more Glow Plug Relay Questions

RE: Newb with more GPR questions sorry One of my GP relay makes a rasping sound when it disengages. Kind of like a starter that doesn't have enough power to engage. My truck is fully charged and starting just fine. I will probably change it out, but since it is still doing its job it is not...

    Welding for dummies

The Vo Tech colleges around here offer night courses in welding. I took a course a long time ago and learned a lot and had fun. They are aimed at people with a crappy day job who want to move up to a welding job at a factory, but will teach you the basics.

    Taxes on Gov liquidation?????

Montgomery, Al apparently charges 10% sales tax which I paid on some CUCVs and then MS insisted on me paying tax again when I titled it. Lavinia was 9.75%, I haven't titled that one yet,

    Winter is coming...winterizing ideas

Glow plugs are just to help start the motor, once it is running they are not needed. At most, they help with decreasing smoke by coming on and off while the motor warms up. I may be wrong if we are talking sub zero temps, but you say it is happening at 35 degrees. It wouldn't hurt to change...
