First things first, if you haven't done so make sure the fill plug comes out. It REALLY sucks to manage to get a drain plug out, only to find the fill plug is stuck and you're dead in the water until you fix that.
You've already done heat, so at this point about all you can do is order...
I've done some decent off roading in the Jeep parks on trails I didn't fit in.
With BTM I've climbed up rocks while literally balancing on 2 wheels (opposite corners)
It's not as good overall as real lockers, and a little noisy because my brakes like to squeal a little, but unless you're...
According to the military manual:
M998A0 dry weight is around 5200 lbs
M998A2 dry weight is around 5900 lbs.
Did you actually take your truck across the scales to get that 5200 lbs (you said that's what it weighs Mogman? 1200 lbs less than Rolling18's 6400 lb truck)
Personally, with the red...
also possible it glitched and showed what the current highest bid is, as most of the truck auctions will only show what the bid level is at during the last 5 minutes
Sounds good. I know I'm very happy with mine.
As much as people say that the LEDs are better, I've done mine side by side with sealed bulbs and military LEDs.
MUCH better light than the sealed bulbs, and I'd say light quality is maybe 90% of the LEDs for the Hella brand assemblies, and close...
24V systems actually operate at about 28V.
It's based off of the "12V" battery, which is over 12V, but less than 13V when fully charged.
To charge a battery, you have to have higher voltage than the battery to force the battery to absorb the energy. You could theoretically do it at the 12.6V...
So if you don't want to spend hundreds on LEDs, but want to change away from the sealed fixtures, you can buy a pair of 7" round H4 housings, a couple pigtails to go from the stock housing to H4 ceramic plugs, and buy 24V H4 bulbs.
Below are some examples.
headlight housing. Make sure to...
truck may have been rebuilt in 2015, but to my knowledge they stopped building new A2 series trucks around 2009 (all M1123s are M998A2 series vehicles)
All that really matters is whether it's serial number is above or below 196900, as the engine belt system and a couple other things were...
I drove through the yard yesterday.
About 100 or so A1 trucks, and maybe 6-10 A2 trucks that I saw. Nothing ECV/REV.
I believe that the A2 helmet top was in this past wednesday's auction; if not it's the next one as I saw it on the active page tuesday when I was buying more tent components.
So not sure if you noticed all the info at the beginning of the instructions page in the maintenance manual, but here are a couple things to pay attention to.
In the yellow box it shows you all the different manuals you need to have available for accomplishing the job.
The red box shows what...
Not sure if it's happening as much these days as I haven't been watching much, but in the past it wasn't uncommon for trucks or equipment to get bid up to stupid price levels, only to see it back on the auction block in a few weeks.
Suspicions were that the auction company was intentionally...
The MT wear better/last longer, but trade off is they have less traction.
The Baja have better traction, but wear out faster.
In pretty much every category, the Baja outperform the MT hands down, except for tread life.
same story I heard. The system leaks no matter what you do, so if the truck sits a few days the tires lose pressure.
It's very useful if you drive a lot and are constantly going on-road to off-road, but if you are primarily on road with little or no off roading, it's just a pain to deal with
sidewalls are strong, but the rubber is prone to cracking much earlier than the other brands under the same conditions.
Theyre was also a notice put out for units to replace them at 5 years from manufacture date due to sidewall related issues.
I bought a set surplus. Looked great when first...
From my understanding it's not uncommon for them to be installed using threadlocker, so applying heat to the extension would be the easiest way to release it.
They were definitely NOT all updated, as PS magazine has a page where it tells everyone that if it's one range of serial numbers, during repair it takes a 3 speed transmission and another set is for the 4 speed.
to add to the above, under the driver's side rear seat base, there should be a box with wires running to it. This is the TCM (Transmission Control Module) only found on 4 speed trucks. No TCM, no 4 speed.
In the battery box area, or more accurately bolted to the outside rear of the battery...
As Tobash said, the "P" Park position on the shifter is the first giveaway. The next is having an overdrive position and then 3,2,and 1 gear spots.
From the exterior of the truck, provided there isn't a winch installed or other front end modification, the front bumper will look like the picture...
As long as it's an M1097R1 with the 3 speed transmission the autozone halfshafts should work. If it has a 4 speed transmission then pretty much everything in the drivetrain is a different part number and not compatible.
You can look up parts under 1992 Hummer H1
Part numbers for the shafts...
