Kally,
No offense or other demeaning connotations intended on my part. My apologies if I sound harsh.
This may help you understand the GP system:
GP Module Theory of Operation
Keep asking questions and we will help get your GP system working. Figuring out other peoples wiring can be difficult.
Looked at the electrical schematic and saw that the GEN 1 light and the heater share a fuse. GEN 1 light did not come on with the key.
Checked the heater fuse and found that it had blown.
Replaced fuse and the GEN 1 light acted normal. Then it blew again when I turned the fan on.
Replaced fuse...
The GP card has a couple of variable inputs that determine the duration of the glow plug heating time.
The colder the engine is, the longer it keeps the Wait light on, the warmer the engine is, the shorter the wait duration.
The GP card also provides the after glow heating of the glow plugs...
I bought this earlier this week. It's has the normal CUCV gremlins.
Plans are to use it for a little while then take it down to the frame and do a full restoration.
In PA,
It would be best if he had a title. PA will accept an SF97 from the Govt. or a Bill of Sale if you are applying for HMV tags.
I have used the SF97 to get a regular title. I am not sure if they will accept a Bill of Sale for a regular title.
PA HVM Facts
Using on an online voltage drop calculator.
Voltage Drop Calculator
Stock 18ga wire 5ft in length will have a drop of .796212 volts.
An upgrade to a 14ga wire 5ft in length will have a drop of .394920 volts.
So one can expect a .401292 volt increase by going to a 14ga wire at 12 volts with a...
I had mine rebuilt, it was in the $ 600 range as well.
I have a aluminum one from Autozone in my M1008. It has been across the US 1 1/2 times, still working well.
What color are the wires going into that connector?
Brown is the 12 volt feed from the fuse box.
Yellow is the Low fan speed.
Light Blue is the Medium fan speed.
Orange is the High fan speed.
Poor connections, a little bit of corrosion and a moderate current draw will cause failures like that. Resistance in a poor electrical connection will cause things to heat up.
Like all electrical connections, they need to be clean and free of any contaminates that cause a poor connection. In...
We corrected the one that was in the TM. I had a friend of mine print the sign for us.
He had a graphic arts shop and was able to do that for me. I then went over it by hand to enhance the color of the lines.
Here is a color schematic for the GP system.
No wires to truck, it's just simulating the CUCV GP system.
At a MV show it's a little difficult to stuff a full sized CUCV in a cardboard box and set it up on a table top!
I can't even member the last time I had this display set up and working. Had to be at least 6 years ago.
I put 33" BFG T/As on my M1009. Expected better fuel economy but it actually used more fuel. The 3.08 rear prefers a smaller tire when starting out from a stop. No issues with clearance inside the fender wells.
The 33's do provide a little more ground clearance and the top end speed does gain...
I used a dual voltage variable power supply to simulate the DC voltage characteristics of the CUCV. One output simulated the 12V side and the other output simulated the 24V side.
We had to add voltage regulators to the volt meters to reflect the true voltage. Out of the box they would not...
The video is in the CUCV Helpful Threads Sticky, under the Glow Plug System, GP Module Operation. It's been there for many years.
GP System Video
I still have the display board that we constructed for shows etc.
I'm glad to hear that you found the video helpful.
