Anyone know if I need to drain oil (and how much) from the transmission before I pull the PTO off of a truck for a winch transplant?
Pulling it this Sunday..... appreciate any input.
Thanks!

Thanks everyone. I think I will try the heat, a monkey wrench, and a big hammer and se what happens.
I am not entirely sure how that thing goes together. I did not feel a head on the top. Did it break off or what should it look like?

My experience with flat paints is they show greasy fingerprints, dusty fingerprints, just everything...... etc.
I was thinking of using satin since I have had good experience with clean ability.
Do those that have done satin like it better?
My truck will not match true military finish...
Doing a winch transplant..... about half way through.
The vertical roller (one that the nut is in the bottom) that is under the fuel tank does not spin. I don’t see a grease fitting for it. I see the nut under neath but no bolt head above it. I can’t figure out how the roller comes out or is...
Thanks everyone for your input.....
I will probably have to do several layouts before I finalize how many of gauges I can actually add.
What priority of the gauges listed above would you pick? Listed most needed to least. Did I miss any really important ones?
Thanks!

I ended up buying a battery balancer. It is 100A rated. The one Superman sells. I am thinking with that, only one voltage gauge is good, since the balancer forces the 12v side to be 1/2 the 24v side.

Just writing to thank fuzzytoaster !
In a few weeks I will update everyone with the entire story, including pictures (so no-one ask him about it yet)..... the write up will be worth the wait.
But in the mean time, I just wanted to throw out a big Thank You!

Awesomeness is in Colorado, he also has bigger “hills” than a lot of us. Maybe people that are having a different experience don’t have the big hills.

So, what gauges on my list make the most sense to everyone? That was the original question....
Dash is in an 1999 1083A1 w/ 3126 serpentine belt truck.

I only asked about a couple of gauges. Which, if any are useful to add?
From what I can tell, most of you think it is a dumb idea. Based on the “unhelpful” responses.
I have seen several people paint their dashes, which I plan to do..... this does not appear to be much more work besides...
I saw that..... I just don’t have the desire to u stitch the floor mat, trace it, cut a new one, then stitch it together again. That sounds like a lot of work I won’t enjoy.
Now stains and paints..... that is easy for me.

The TMs say that 25inH2O is in the red. I cannot read the numbers. Is the top line 25 or the line between the green and red 25?
I have seen some gauges with 28 listed as max and others with 25.
Anyone have a clear picture of what the FMTV should have?
Thanks.

So, I was thinking about adding some switches to the dash. Then, I found out a family member was possibly getting a plasma table. So, now I am thinking about making a new dash plate all together.
Just brainstorming here and honestly, it will be a long while before I get to this on my todo...
