Something else I found there today. Number four duck canvass in 4 foot by 25 yard rolls for $99.00. It is olive Drab in color. Does anyone know if that is heavy enough to make good seat covers?? Might be a good source for canvass for those projects if the color is right.
Thats the trouble with some of the newer members. They missed a lots of those posts. Some will say search. I searched today for a diagram or explaination of a master cylinder rebuild. I put in master cylinder and got 500 posts. I put in duece master cylinder rebuild and got one post, one of...
I have a Duece on blocks now with all the drums pulled. This truck had sat for a long time and the master cylinders were rusted so bad they could not be saved. I pulled the airpac last week to ckeck it. The last owner had put DOT 3 in it on top of DOT 5. I think that is why the Master was...
I ordered new seals today. Only one wheel had oil in it, the first one we pulled. I pulled this truck down because it had sat for several years. The master cylinder was frozen and junk when pulled apart. I figured the wheel cylinders were the same. The wheel cylinders fared better and...
I pulled all the rear hubs off one of my Dueces today. You said you packed the bearings. I thought they ran in oil from the diff. When you siliconed the keyway does that stop the oil from the diff getting in there?? So then packed bearings are good?? I was going to order new seals tomorrow...
Mine has been real slow for a long time. Seems to be better this week. My main problem is when I make a quick reply most of the time I have to leave and come back to get back to the forums. It always takes me back to my quick reply every time I hit the back button. I figured it was just my...
If you are not concerned about orginality you could put an inline pump in. I think ODiron sells them. I have three trucks that the pumps don't work. Two start a little slow if not run for a while but run fine after started and the thrid always starts right up but does not like to idle for a...
I have one but it has problems. My wrecker was missing both winches and I found some on e-bay off a wrecker. I assumed it was front and rear, talked to the owner and he did not know. I bought and when they can in both were rear. The good one is on my wrecker and the other is still sitting on...
The only draw-back I could see would be if you carry heavy loads often or very far. Heavyly loaded the sidewalls could touch at the bottom and creat heat.
A member posted on here yesterday that he just bought one on a city sealed bid sale for $300.00, but that is very unusual. I paid $2500.00 for my M543 but the guy was in a bind and the truck had to go. You will just have to look and be patient. Good luck, they are very handy.
Changing drag links should not cause that. Something else may be damaged. Have someone turn the steering wheel and look for the lost motion. The blow that broke the link could have damaged the steering box. I would not drive it on the road again until I found the problem. Several years ago...
You might want to reconsider the pressure plate. If it has slipped enough to ruin the flywheel then it has created a lot of heat. Heat removes the tension from the springs in the pressure plate. It may look good, but when reinstalled does not have enough pressure to firmly hold the clutch to...
Your system is clean so you will have no problem with DOT 3. The Government uses DOT 5 because it does not mix with water. A lot of these trucks sit for long periods of time without being moved and water in the system will corrode componants and cause failure. If you use the truck on a fairly...
To find out about the Ga Rally go to the Forums listing and go down the list to the Ga Rally. You can read about this year and see pictures and Clint has also included some things about the 2009 Rally. Loads of fun, you got to come.
Its a slim possibility on a truck that was running a few months ago but you might need to check the shut down lever in the pump. They can stick and when you push the handle back in it does not turn fuel back on in the pump. There is a small cover on the side of the pump with two screws, pull...
