    new m818 owner apparent ly!

No, you want it heavy on the truck. When that idiot pulls out on front of you, you want those truck tires glued to the pavement. If they are'nt then that Duece is going to do its best to pass you and thats no fun. As for the load on the trailer, I used to farm tobacco and it was baled in 800...

    new m818 owner apparent ly!

A 10 ton trailer works fine but you need a good truck hooked to it. A 3/4 ton might work OK but I prefer a 1 ton. You need to know the brakes work good and still pay attenion to whats going on around you. Panic stops do not work well.

    Cargo cover

Do they still have any covers for a five ton?? I am on the look-out for a new one for a spare as mine is showing a little wear. Macon is real close to me.

How do you stop a non running deuce?

You should have a petal even with no air. All the air does is provide extra pressure with an air piston pushing the fluid along with your foot.

M818 x2 recovery jrff city tomorrow am

They tow very well. Unlike a Duece, if you hook up the air lines on the front of a five ton, when you apply brakes in the towing truck it also applys the brakes in the towed truck. If you are towing with a truck that has a hand valve then you can apply the brakes on the towed truck by pulling...

How long does she have doc

I agree that if you service regularly and treat them well they will last forever. I had one of my farm tractors seize and engine couple years ago. It was not used much each year. When it seized I started checking and guess what, I had not changed the oil in 600 hours:oops::oops:. The...

    Info search WWII Firefighting trailer

Lane, Rizzo and I both have posted on a John Deere antique site for info. Yours was difinately built by John deere. Maybe we can get some info there. If not. This would be a great thing to send to Mr. Thinker at The Two- Cylinder Magazine and see what he comes up with. I can submit it if...

    My new ride

It looks great!!! When can you start on mine??? I have been thinking about getting mine fixed up and yours just adds to the fever. If it was not for the metal repair work needed the painting would not be so bad.

Anyone have a M66 ring thay would trade?

I have two rings that appear to have never been installed and are in perfect condition but no mounting hardware. I had three and sold one to an SS member for $700.00 and thats what I am asking for the other two. I don't need another trailer. I have one as nice as yours I pd $365.00 for on a...

    M35A2 Transport vs. Drive

I agree on the brakes. Check everything you can and then make several hard emergency stops on the yard, hard as you can push the petal. If there are any weak spots hopefully they will show up now. If this test is successful, then head out but treat any redlight, stop sign, and vechile in...

    Grease...Green Grease

Its the specs that mater and not the color of the grease. I used red grease on the farm for years and made a mistake and got black grease one time. I can't tell the difference. I do have a story to tell though. A traviling grease salesman stopped by the farm and told me his grease would...

I run Rotella 15-40 because that is whats stenciled under the hood. But from my farm experience any good quality diesel oil will be fine.

New deuce owner in central GA. Need help.

The number is stamped in the rail behind the steering box. They are very hard to read because of the paint. Look real close and you may can see some indication of where it is. I used my torch to burn the paint off where it was suppossed to be and then could read it easily. Spray a little paint...

New deuce owner in central GA. Need help.

You can verifiy the vin by checking the numbers stamped into the frame rail behind the steering box. I used a torch to burn the many layers of paint off mine to see the number. Even with a 97 my DMV requires a form T-22-B to get a tag. This is a form any police officer can fill out to verify...

    Brake issues on a M35A2

A shop with the right tools to work on large trucks should be able to do the job in less than two hours. Really probably only an hour. You don't have to remove the wheels from the hub. Take off spindle nuts and with wheels on wheel dolly roll wheels out. Remove shoes and bad cylinder, clean...
